The Blasting Engineer is responsible for the successful coordination of demonstrations, delivery, and ongoing support of Maptek’s BlastLogic products in the US and Canada. This role requires a high level of understanding of blasting programs and how to apply software solutions to a variety of potential mining clients. Additionally, previous experience in mine planning software is very desirable.

The primary function of this role is to introduce and expand upon Maptek solutions for the mining industry to clients and potential clients through BlastLogic, and the engineering consulting services that support them. This position works closely with the North American Sales Team to identify opportunities and provide solutions for new and existing clients. Creates new contacts and utilizes existing Maptek contacts to develop new opportunities. Travels to meet with both existing and potential client companies to ascertain their technical and business needs, pain points/challenges, and then presents the benefits of utilizing Maptek solutions through a technical understanding of the product. Coordinates with the sales team and moves the process forward by delivering on-target demos that address client needs and interests. Builds and maintains great working relationships with new and existing clients while qualifying all opportunities and leads through the system. Coordinates with the Sales team and the VP Mine Solutions to accomplish objectives.

Essential Functions

Serve as an expert BlastLogic product resource, providing technical expertise to help the development of sales opportunities with clients and prospect in the U.S. and Canada as required and in coordination with the Sales organization.
Prepare and deliver Software / Hardware demonstrations.
Work with the North American Sales Team to identify priority opportunities in order to provide solutions to new and existing clients. Pro-Actively engage with your Maptek colleagues in advancing the promotion of BlastLogic as it relates to their specific domain of expertise and network of industry contacts.
Assist in the development of technical sales material.
Create new or utilize existing Maptek contacts to develop new opportunities.
Contribute to and facilitate considerable customer contributions to the BlastLogic development roadmap.
Work with Maptek sales and marketing teams to assist in implementing marketing plans and sales campaigns for BlastLogic products relevant to the US and Canada markets.
Record all activity in
Ensure ongoing satisfaction of all BlastLogic customers through delivery of outstanding support, services and by maintaining productive, professional relationships based on integrity and open communication.
Provide Engineers and Software Developers with product enhancement suggestions derived from customer input.
Foster an environment of collaboration by engaging in teamwork and building relationships across departments.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Contribute to and facilitate considerable customer contributions to the BlastLogic development roadmap.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree in Engineering or related field.
Current knowledge of North America mining industry drivers, trends, challenges and objectives and how these relate to technology requirements and opportunities.
Experience working in drill and blast operations in North America.
Ability to build and live a culture of dedication, persistence, innovation, customer focus and success in a challenging technical and business environment with a new product.
Ability and desire to maintain enthusiasm and focus in long sales cycle products.
Experience in, and proven ability to support high value technical systems and ensure delivery of value through product capability, support and services in the long term.
Outstanding skills in public speaking and technical sales presentations.
Ability to negotiate and deal with customers from senior management through to end user, and across the spectrum of mining types and their various demands and requirements.
Previous experience using highly desirable.
Marketing knowledge suitable for building a quality sales pipeline by promoting value delivery and proving operational outcomes.
Can develop strategic goals and tactics to achieve the best possible commercial outcomes for customers and Maptek alike.
Excellent communication skills, listening, writing, speaking, and reading comprehension skills in the English language.
Ability to get along well with a diverse group of people, attitudes, and expectations in multiple levels of an organization.
Ability to deal with multiple, competing demands and prioritize appropriately.
Travel up to 50% both domestically and internationally to generate business. On-site presence during implementations.
