Lead a cross-functional team to drive detailed technical research to further develop global engineering operations strategy, standards, and specifications and drive cycle time reduction, productivity, and standard work within Engineering and Manufacturing. Lead and deliver functional improvements to simplify and streamline engineering processes and coordinate simplification initiatives across engineering. Serve a change agent to increase the speed of execution in engineering by driving impactful simplification initiatives and will develop and execute strategic global engineering operations processes. Lead a diverse set of matrix organized engineering teams to deliver additive system, subsystem, and component re-design, driving significant cost-out while maintaining competitive differentiation in performance, safety, and reliability. Transform the way we engineer solutions for the future by leveraging digital tools to be able to predict product performance. Apply system level engineering principles and techniques to design, develop, simplify, and integrate processes across the organization to enable direct digital concept definition through intelligent PMI models and champion executive decisions. Drive cycle time reduction, productivity and standard work within Engineering and Manufacturing through direct consumption of 3D models in CAM and CMM programming software. Lead a team of engineers to enable the future of data analytics. Lead a team working in developing Digital Twins of individual assets, through physics based models, drastically optimize lifing models of its customer’s assets, reducing costly pre-mature or un-necessary repairs. Provide executive leadership to adopt polymer and metal based Additive Manufacturing technologies by acquiring equipment and creating strategic partnerships, developing training programs for employees, driving innovative projects to extract value for the customers and shareholders, and improve overall product reliability. Lead the re-training efforts of our engineers in the area of design for Additive Manufacturing to develop new business models around this technology which will enable growth, capture new markets and remain competitive in the global manufacturing industry. Provide leadership in exploring and developing Digital Technology Innovations that can be leveraged to enhance our products and services offering. Evaluate emerging technologies and find the most meaningful and impactful ways to apply them to our industry (namely these include Machine Vision, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics, Big Data and Block Chain, among others).
Minimum Education and Years of Experience Required:
Bachelor’s degree, or foreign degree equivalent, in Mechanical Engineering and 20 years of progressively responsible post-Bachelor’s degree related engineering experience.
Special Skills Required:
20 years of experience with Global Rail
15 years of experience with Mechanical and System Engineering design experience in Railway applications
5 years of experience managing engineering teams of at least 50 professionals in the fields of systems engineering and integration.
1 year of experience with the following:
Leading a Product Management function in the Rail domain
Using and customizing Siemens Teamcenter Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Active Workspace, and NX to develop engineering Bills of Materials (BOMs), service BOM, and 3D production manufacturing instruction (PMI)
Leading projects in the development of digital twins, big data, and edge data analytics
Managing engineering and manufacturing teams of metal and polymer Additive Manufacturing as well as 3D model consumption using CNC & CMM programming softwar
