Are you a Material Science Engineer or Metallurgist with a passion for the commercialization of innovation?
As Product Development Engineer, you are the technical expert engaged with Tier 1 customers to troubleshoot and solve small component technical issues, then collaborate across internal functions to develop prototypes. You are the linchpin to leveraging Materion’s capabilities and reputation as a leading innovator in composite metals within our Technical Materials Division ( https://materion.com/businesses/technical-materials/ )!
You will have the opportunity to:
Respond to customer needs, solving real-world problems by identifying innovative new material solutions for a variety of high-tech end markets.
Effectively communicate and coordinate between process engineering, quality and manufacturing personnel regarding the successful launch of new programs.
Working with field sales, technically support selective market initiatives in the field through extensive customer meetings and communications.
Coordinate pricing/profitability and competitive analysis along with technology assessments for product launches.
Support and coordinate global programs.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Materials Science or Metallurgy concentration.
Minimum of 5 years progressive experience in metals or related industry, preferably involving strip or clad metal engineering or metal parts/component design and manufacturing.
Previous product development experience with significant customer contact.
Expertise with various alloy families (ferrous, copper based, refractory, aluminum and precious metal alloys) is an asset.
Keen desire to engage with customers and focus on the key aspects of the business side of materials engineering
