USAble Life is looking for remote Business Intelligence (BI) Developer contractors of various levels to support the needs of the business by designing, implementing and maintaining data solutions. The length of the contract will be between 6-12 months, and pay will be based on experience.
The individual will contribute to small to large-scale projects and corporate initiatives. Essential duties will include analyzing business requirements to design, develop and update dashboards, reports, data extracts and other BI solutions. The individual will translate business requirements into technical specifications and perform data analysis to support requirements gathering and documentation and to ensure quality of data. The individual will conduct unit testing of solutions developed and assist in validating outputs, conduct troubleshooting, and support existing solutions. Based on abilities and assignment, the individual may serve as a subject matter expert to support corporate or department initiatives.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong skills writing SQL queries in Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, or other industry leading RDBMS.
Strong skills creating reports and dashboards using Microsoft Reporting Services, Microsoft Power BI, Business Objects, Cognos or other reporting tools.
Competent skills creating ETL processes using Microsoft Integration Services, Informatica or other data integration tools.
Exposure to designing and maintaining OLAP cubes and data models using Microsoft Analysis Services or other tools.
Exposure to dimensional data modeling and data warehousing methodologies.
Ability to effectively communicate in writing and orally with a wide range of audiences and maintain interpersonal relationships.
Ability to work within time constraints and manage multiple tasks against critical deadlines.
Ability to perform basic problem solving and apply critical thinking, deductive reason and inductive reasoning to identify solutions.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Information Technology or a related field.
Minimum 2 years and potentially up to 7+ years of related IT experience.
Experience writing effective technical specifications or other documentation.
Preferred Education and Experience:
IT related experience in the Health or Ancillary Insurance Industry.
