We are looking for a Design Engineer to join our Midwest Infrastructure Water Resources Team. If you are a new grad looking to start your career with a growing team, we would love for you to apply.
What You'll Be Doing: This role is a great opportunity for an engineer (EIT) looking to gain more experience and the ability to learn from our innovative team. In this position you will be supporting highway and bridge groups within our Water Resources Team. Our Water Resources Team covers all the waterways in Michigan from dams, storm sewers, and managing floodwater, to helping with inspections and restoring and protecting watersheds.
What We're Looking For: The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree (Civil or Environmental) a minimum of 1 year professional work experience or 2+ summers of internship experience working for a professional firm in the industry. EIT certification is a plus.
What You'll Need to Be Successful:
Develop drawings by modifying or replicating prior projects
Ability to create drawings from sketches
Ability to ensure designs are in accordance with company and client production and design standards.
Desire to conduct field inspections and surveys
Proficient in CAD
Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment
A strong work ethic, excellent attention to detail, and eagerness to learn
A team player and be able to work independently
Our Design Engineers also:
Perform hydrologic and hydraulic engineering calculations
Assist in the design of water resource related systems including: rivers and streams, storm sewers, dam spillways, detention basins, etc.
Create cost estimates for project alternatives
Perform QA/QC by verifying design methodology, calculations, outcomes, etc.
Interpret drawings from multiple disciplines for specific projects
Create 3D models
Research design options and document findings for project engineer/manager
Submit concept designs and work through approval processes such as permits from municipalities.
Participate in project meetings
