Farallon Consulting, L.L.C. has an opening for a full-time, Project Engineer in its Portland, Oregon office. This is an hourly, non-exempt position. Farallon provides an integrated suite of environmental consulting services to a wide range of private and public-sector clients. Specialty areas include environmental due diligence, site characterization, engineering/remediation services, natural resources, stormwater management, and mediation/litigation support. The firm is headquartered in Issaquah, Washington, with branch offices in Seattle and Bellingham, Washington; Portland and Baker City, Oregon; and Oakland, Folsom, and Irvine, California.
The Project Engineer will perform professional engineering work supporting a broad range of projects that reflect Farallon’s core practices including:
Engineering support to industrial compliance projects;
Remediation system design and construction; and
Stormwater system design, construction, and BMP implementation.
The engineering work requires a professional knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques for designing straightforward civil engineering projects involving soil, water and/or sediments under the direction of senior engineering staff.

Assists in development and performance of feasibility studies and related pilot testing programs with oversight from senior staff.
Accurately interprets data relative to applicable regulations and standards.
Develops conceptual designs and performs alternatives analysis on straightforward projects under the direction of senior engineering staff.
Performs design calculations, prepares cost estimates and construction specifications, and develops design drawings in AutoCAD under the direction of senior engineering staff.
Plans and conducts field projects in accordance with Farallon health and safety practices.
Performs construction observation and quality assurance with assistance of senior staff.
Prepares text for reports, feasibility studies, and cleanup action plans.
Implements project quality control procedures to produce products that meet Farallon standards.
Professionally represents Farallon to clients, vendors, regulatory agencies, and others.
Develops understanding of Farallon standard contract documents.
Assists with preparation of engineering related material for proposals and cost estimates.
This position has no managerial responsibilities of other staff but may require supervision of contractors in the field.
This job operates in a professional office environment and in the field. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers. This role also uses equipment necessary to perform specialized field tasks.
This is an active role. This would require the ability to lift, twist, bend, stand and walk as necessary.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, currently scheduled at 40 hours per week. Days and hours of work are to be arranged with manager.
Minimal overnight travel is anticipated for this position. Some local day travel will be necessary.
Required Education and Certification
B.S. degree in civil, environmental, or related engineering discipline.
Engineer in Training Certification
Preferred Education and Experience
Minimum three years of experience in the environmental or civil consulting or similar field
