Acting on behalf of our investors and for our own account, Core actively sources, capitalizes, develops and manages a wide range of real estate projects. We also offer a comprehensive range of development and project management services to our clients and joint venture partners.

We are looking for a maternity leave replacement for the Controller.


  • Post-secondary education in accounting
  • CPA designation
  • Minimum 3 year previous experience at controllership level in development, construction or lending company
  • Previous experience with a major ERP
  • Quickbooks experience preferred

Key Accountabilities

Corporate accounting:

  • Oversee full cycle accounting function, including A/Rs, A/Ps, bank reconciliations, GL maintenance (one reporting accountant on staff)
  • Review month end and quarter end closing, including HST, WSIB, EHT and other government filings
  • Review biweekly payroll prepared by HR personnel through ADP, review annual T4 filing
  • Prepare year-end financial package for the external accountants (review engagement under ASPE)
  • Prepare monthly financial reporting and communicate to the senior management
  • Assist VP to prepare quarterly financial reporting package for management and investors
  • Perform corporate budgeting, forecasting and cash flow analysis
  • Manage company’s banking relationships
  • Maintain company policies and procedures

Project accounting (four active development projects):

  • Oversee full cycle project accounting, including A/Ps, A/Rs, bank reconciliations for the projects and related entities (GP/ LP structure)
  • Prepare month and quarter end financial reporting to the investors and lenders
  • Review HST filings, communicate with the CRA regarding queries, examinations and audits
  • Process equity calls and loan draw requests on a monthly basis
  • Oversee tenant relationships (lease legal paperwork, collections, maintenance requests)
  • Prepare year-end financial packages for the auditors (financials prepared on review/ audit engagement basis under ASPE/ IFRS)
  • Prepare year-end tax schedules for the partnership returns (T5013) and corporate income tax returns (T2) filed by the external accountants
