General Description and Classification Standards
Operates City’s internal data communications systems working in the Airport’s Network Operations Center. Operates City’s internal data communications systems. Plans, designs and implements local and wide-area network solutions between multiple platforms and protocols. This is an intermediate level position. This is an experienced professional level capable of carrying out most assignments typical of the profession with limited guidance or review. This level would be considered a promotional level and attainable by any incumbents in a work group who demonstrate the necessary knowledge, ability and performance. Could be the only professional in this specialty in a work group.

Plans, designs and implements local and wide-area network solutions between multiple platforms and protocols (including IP and VOIP).
Supports/troubleshoots network issues and coordinates with vendors for installation of such items e.g. routers, switches.
Provides training and assists with proposal writing.
Conducts project planning and project implementation, cost analysis and vendor comparisons.
Performs work under general supervision with review and advice from manager or senior level professional
Informal or review. May be informal team leader or may review work of less experienced professionals or support

Minimum Qualifications – Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering (equivalent professional experience may be considered for substitution for the required degree on an exception basis).
2 years' of specific professional work experience.
Preferred Education & Experience
Master’s degree in computer science or engineering (equivalent professional experience may be considered for substitution for the master’s degree on an exception basis) with 2-4 years' of directly related professional work.
