Clarke Valve™ is seeking a Simulations Engineer to join their energetic team of engineers at the corporate headquarters located in North Kingstown, RI.
As a Simulations Engineer you will use specialized software to analyze and optimize fluid dynamic systems based on project scope requirements. This position involves the development of CFD models to evaluate and troubleshoot fluid flow, thermal, mechanical and structural performance of the Shutter Valve in a dynamic system.
As a member of the Clarke Valve team, the Shop Floor Valve Tech is responsible for completing the tasks listed below as required by management and engineering. As part of the Clarke team, the team member should expect to have flexibility in their role. At times new responsibilities may be given to the employee that are not covered on this list. Conversely, not every task will be required regularly.
Create and develop 3D digital models and components using SolidWorks
Perform Computational Fluid Dynamics and thermal analysis on digital twins of customer
Provide effective design solutions to optimize product functionality
Follow best CFD practices for accurate computational efficiency
Write accurate and detailed reports of CFD results
Provide technical expertise in problem resolution
Aid in design and development of new products
Ensure that product performance meet the customer’s functional and technical requirements
Maintain documentations for CFD analysis and engineering methods
Work closely with project team members and other company functions to ensure compliance with project requirements.
Ensure components and assemblies adhere to company and customer standards and
Be able to represent the Clarke Valve™ project team, communicating with other internal
functions and team members with respect to engineering issues.
Promote the problem-solving company culture.
Follow the Clarke Valve™ policies and procedures.
At minimum the candidate shall have a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Materials Engineering or equivalent.
Job Knowledge / Experience / Skills
A qualified candidate will have the following proficiencies:
Strong knowledge & experience with SolidWorks 3D CAD software.
Working knowledge SolidWorks Flow Simulation, ANSYS and/or COMSOL
Experience creating 3-D models using SolidWorks.
Experience with finite element analysis (FEA), multi-body dynamics analysis, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), or thermal analysis.
Understanding of Fluid Dynamic & Thermodynamic Concepts as they relate to piping flow
Ability to work on interdisciplinary teams
Ability to competently use Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project).
Ability to work in a 5S/6S environment.
Capable of setting tasks that will achieve the project goals and are completed on time.
Strong organization and time management skills, with the ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities.
Have an open mind and be flexible to changing requirements.
A strong candidate will possess these additional nice-to-have qualifications:
Knowledge of how a Phase Gate process works within an organization is desirable.
Understanding of valve industry standards (e.g., ANSI, ASME, B16.34, B16.10, API, ANSI, ISO).
Familiarity with valves and actuation used in aerospace and industrial applications.
Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001.
SolidWorks (CAD, Simulation, PDM, CAM), Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint), COMSOL. ANSYS
Ability to effectively use a PC, keyboard, and mouse.
Occasionally squat, kneel, bend, twist, and lift, carry, push or pull up to 50 lbs.
Work in an industrial environment wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.
