SeKON is looking for a Biomedical Engineer to join our talented and innovative team supporting the Defense Healthcare Management Systems (DHMS) and it's program offices in Arlington, VA. The mission lifecycle of DHMS is to competitively acquire, test, deliver and successfully transition to a state-of-the-market electronic health record (EHR) system. In partnership with the Defense Health Agency (DHA), Services and Industry, DHMS is developing a deployment and sustainment strategy to optimize the delivery of a modernized EHR with minimal disruption to the military healthcare community. The Biomedical Engineer reports to the Program Office Lead.
Acts as key participant in coordinating all aspects of an Electronic Health Record (EHR) release lifecycle including network/system environment set-up, test and releases/deployment activities of Commercial off the Shelf (COTs) Medical Device product lines.
Manage timely resolution of critical and/or complex technical problems within multiple IT platforms and network enclaves to connect and interface medical devices to their home systems and EHR.
Coordinate with other engineering professionals to provide Enterprise Service technical implementation support of medical devices and their management consoles in a broad area of technology such as compute and storage, virtualization, directory services, enterprise management, cyber and network routing for multiple client configurations in preparation for Go Live events.
Identify business and technical risks, gaps and opportunities effecting the "Go-Live" event.
Validation of technical requirement, system integration, and system interface to include interpretation of documentation and change management requirements.
Work multiple site deployment projects and teams concurrently within deadlines while ensuring that complex information is conveyed in a clear, accurate, and concise manner under normal and in crisis situations.
Preparation and delivery of executive presentations to live audiences at all levels.
Must have Active DoD Secret Clearance
5+ yeas of specialized Systems Engineering for Department of Defense IT Systems.
Undergraduate degree in Engineering, IT, Computer Science or related field.
Certifications in one or more of the following industry competencies; AAMI BMET, and/or ETA International.
5+ years' experience in BIOMEDICAL Device engineering, support and security.
5+ years' hands on Tier III support experience is required.
10-20% travel mainly CONUS may be required to support site work.
Experience in preparation for system deployment and post deployment transition to assist other system engineers in troubleshooting issues.
Must have good communication skills and have experience building partnerships with teammates, customers and other vendors.
Skill in the use of various types of office automation to includes Microsoft Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Visio, Project and Access)
Ability to work collaboratively and proactively with customers and program office members in a multi-vendor environment.
Special consideration for:
Experience in DoD Healthcare IT and/or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems
Experience deploying/delivering enterprise EHR products such as Cerner, Epic and Scripts
Interoperability other defense agencies including VA (VISTA) and Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA)
Advanced Knowledge of:
DoD and/or NIST 800 series Cyber Security "Risk Management Framework", HL&/FHIR and IEEE 11073 standards.
Industry best practices such as ISO, CMMI, Lean Six Sigma and Agile Scrum.
System Development Lifecycle (SDLC) Requirements, use cases, release management, testing, risk management, change management, and configuration management experience.
Installing, managing, maintaining, administering, and troubleshooting applications and documenting technical guidelines.
Department of Defense (DoD) Acquisition lifecycle-working in major acquisition
