SoundOff Signal is a growing local firm with an international base of suppliers and customers. We are a team oriented, ISO certified manufacturer of emergency and commercial vehicle lighting equipment. Due to our continuing growth, we have a new opportunity for a Test Engineer Level I.
Test Engineer I
The ideal candidate for this position will be skilled at multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment. This individual will have a wide range of skills that not only includes electronic hardware and software design, but also basic machine and fixture design and assembly. They will be capable of handling multiple projects while maintaining a positive attitude. They will also be able to communicate with personnel on different levels within the organization.
Minimum of a Bachelor Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology or Electrical Engineering or two or more years of related electronics experience.
LabVIEW experience or the aptitude and willingness to learn LabVIEW.
Necessary skills in the following areas include:
Demonstrate SoundOff Signal’s core values of (Trust, Customer Service, Living Excellence, Entrepreneurial) in the daily interactions with internal and external customers.
Assists, supports and repairs all test equipment and testing for production floor.
Test equipment set-up, operator training, and support is key.
Assures test readiness and customer satisfaction by reviewing current test equipment/facilities against current and future test requirements and anticipates and communicates required improvements to team leader.May be asked to coordinate implementation of new equipment as appropriate.
Interfaces with outside test equipment fabricators to provide scheduling and technical support for tests systems in progress.
Ability to troubleshoot electronic PCBs and assemblies and recommend design changes.
Performs preventative maintenance on test equipment.
Tracks daily repairs and downtime of production test equipment.
Ability to produce and verify SoundOff Signal Work Instructions for test equipment.
Participate in the new product design process to ensure Design for Test procedures are implemented properly
Manage production related tester issues.
Maintains a safe test / work environment by enforcing and complying with procedures, rules, regulations, and industry standards.
Ability to build prototype circuit boards and assemblies.
Additional skills and abilities you will need:
Practical knowledge and ability to apply test engineering principles, techniques, theories, concepts, industry practices, regulations, and policies.These could vary from standard methods to highly automated instrumentation.
Electrical Engineering working knowledge of electronic equipment, pneumatic and mechanical test equipment, specifications and test procedures.
Able to create, read and comprehend electrical schematics.
Proficient in troubleshooting and repairing electronic equipment, including SMT circuitry.
Proficient soldering skills in all technologies including lead-free.
Proficiency of the basic Microsoft software packages including Word and Excel.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to work with many types of people and personalities.
General mechanical aptitude in a shop environment (hand tools, light duty power tools, calipers, etc.) beneficial.
