Purpose of Position:
This position leads the engineering component of projects with dedicated and contracted resources as a head engineer to accelerate our research and development projects with a focus to achieve further improvements & efficiencies in our unique processing and procurement operations within our production facilities.
This position is responsible to:
Manage and implement Land-Based research & development initiatives and projects in support of Clearwater's R&D Strategic Plan.
This position reports to Director of Research & Development, Land-Based Operations (LBO).
Location: Clearwater Head Office Bedford, NS, as well as regular trips to the production facilities.
Travel: Will be required travel globally as well as trips onboard Clearwater Vessels.
Schedule: Regular office hours while in office, variable hours during travel.
Duties & Accountabilities (Responsibilities):
Involved in the concept brainstorming process and providing technology insights.
Help implement process and equipment design changes.
Assist in new process automation development and equipment development.
Lead R&D initiative for LBO.
Build conceptual prototypes and come up with design concepts, optimized for the cost and performance of the processing of different species.
Assist in building project plans , budgets, and costing.
Obtain solutions within Clearwater's generally defined practices and policies.
Test concepts and design on benchtop and in production.
Evaluate and collect data on key performance metrics.
Other duties as reasonably assigned.
Undergraduate Degree -mechanical, electrical or process engineering.
Excellent computer skills and awareness of technology.
Previous experience in the Food Processing Industry an asset.
Project Management experience an asset.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
