As an Integrity Engineer in Training you will work with close guidance and supervision on tasks and smaller projects, and as a team member of a larger project under the guidance of more senior engineer/designer. Your role is to perform analysis of complex threats to pipeline systems using advanced engineering techniques as a team member of the Integrity Reliability group. You will support integrity management decision-making and projects to enhance reliability methodologies. This position is linked to growing demand from a major midstream client and requires routine direct client interaction.
Your Key Responsibilities
Analyze dent and/or geohazard features including data collection, finite element modelling using ABAQUS, reliability analysis, and documentation of results. The analysis will be based on a combination of following relevant processes and procedures, using available engineering tools, and leveraging your expertise in the field of finite element modelling and solid mechanics.
Support projects to enhance methodologies through evaluating case studies, investigating relevant industry literature, interfacing with subject matter experts, and enhancing available tools and processes.
Perform reliability analysis for other threats on an as-needed basis using established tools and processes.
Support basic reliability analysis (or other tasks) using skills in data interpretation, statistics, structural reliability, Python/R/VBA coding, and engineering best practices.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Demonstrated proficiency with ABAQUS software and stress analysis.
Understanding of advanced solid mechanics and finite element analysis theory.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under short timelines.
Ability to quickly learn and understand complex analysis processes and methods.
Interest in advanced statistical analysis (Bayesian analysis, calibration of data, power analysis, etc.).
Strong communication skills (written and verbal) with ability to follow direction and procedures.
Ability to deliver thorough technical analysis and recommendations.
Ability to follow directions and procedures.
Proficient with MS Office Suite.
Proficiency with Python/Matlab and development of software tools in a sandbox environment is preferred.
Understanding of structural reliability and associated analysis methods (e.g. Monte Carlo Simulations, Response Surface Method, FORM, SORM, Importance Sampling) is preferred.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent); Related post-graduate degree (MSc, PhD) preferred.
Registered Engineer in Training (APEGA or equivalent).
Minimum of 2 years of engineering experience, preferably related to:
Solid mechanics and finite element analysis;
Pipeline industry and pipeline inspection methods/data;
Fracture mechanics and fatigue analysis (e.g. Paris Law, S-N curves); and/or
Geotechnical engineering related to slope movement.
Typical office environment working with computers.
