Job Description
Pontiac Metal Center is the lead stamping site supporting GM's EV production. The majority of major sheet metal stampings provided to Orion and Factory Zero come from Pontiac Metal Center.
This position is responsible for administrating the stamping quality system for the plant. Team driven development and deployment of new quality processes to make operations understood and effective using GMS principles will be required. This position will be a quality interface to assembly plant customers.
Work involves the coordination of quality system requirements and the ability to make decisions within the limits of general practices and policies. Work will be performed under general supervision, while exercising a high level of independent judgment.
Responsible for stamping quality system implementation
Understand, implements, and maintains all BIQ calibration statements and other applicable GMS principle statements
Monitors quality and cost
Maintains safety and good housekeeping standards
Drives continuous improvement activities related to quality (IPPM, PPM, scrap, etc.)
Interfaces with production and service department personnel on technical production problems
Keeps management informed of key developments
Regular contact with others outside the work group
Complies with terms of local and national labor agreements
Establishes a course of action to accomplish completion of the job and/or project
Coordinates input from internal/external customers to better understand customer needs and/or perceptions
Responsible for 3rd party product suppliers and safety on site
Supports launch activities and ensures adherence of key deliverables
Keeps abreast of current product developments and trends in areas of expertise
Actively identifies new areas for learning and takes advantage of learning opportunities
Qualifications
Knowledge of basic technology and standards of area supervised
Relatively high level of analytical ability where problems are complex
Well-developed oral and written communication skills
Knowledge of scheduling, manufacturing processes, quality control standards, and other management systems
Able to make decisions independently with limited supervision
High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, motivate employees, and elicit work output
Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area required
Knowledge of computer software as it pertains to quality systems and engineering
Experience with stamping processes preferred but not required
Experience in metallurgy preferred but not required
- Willingness to work off-shifts and overtime as required
Education and Training
Bachelor's degree (engineering, technical, or leadership) or equivalent experience
Knowledge of General Motors Global Manufacturing System
