Robotic Systems - Automation Engineer - BWX Technologies, Inc. - Barberton, Ohio
Looking for a full time professional with experience in robotics, controls, and/or automation engineering to keep our systems state of the art and to on board technologies to make our operations safer, faster, and of higher quality. This individual will work side by side with an existing automation engineer with experience to manage all of our robotic systems in our facility and to consult automation engineers at our other facilities. Training both on the job and formal will be provided to ensure your success in this role.
Involved in all aspects of robotic system execution, including hardware design, system design, network design, software development, and system commissioning.
Managing projects for the procurement of new robotic or automated systems for welding or inspection processes.
Works with welding and inspection robotic systems from Motoman, Reis, and Kuka
Works with welding and inspection CNC systems from Siemens.
Creates robotic applications programs using OEM robotic and/or generalized computer languages.
Performs software maintenance of existing programs, and performs verification of automated application programs to the manufacturing plan.
Must demonstrate a working knowledge of industrial controls both physical hardware and logic (relay logic, relay hardwae, plc logic, plc hardware, digital I/O).
Aids in adjusting and modifying part programs used on shop floor and maintaining documentation for hardware and software.
Aids in developing end effector and tooling concepts.
Assists shop with proper operation of automated equipment, diagnostics and repair plans, and training operators on equipment and programs.
Works with Manufacturing Engineering, Welding Engineering and Quality Assurance to verify dimensional and process requirements.
Develops an awareness of safety requirements and aids in performing safety risk assessments.
Candidates must possess a BS or BT degree in Automation, Controls, or Robotic engineering or a Mechanical engineering degree with automation, controls, or robotic experience.
A minimum of 2 years of experience in a position in Automation, Controls, or Robotic engineering is required.
Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. Position requires U.S. Citizenship (with no dual citizenship) and ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance which involves an extensive criminal and financial background investigation and previous employment reference verifications.
