Position Information
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or closely related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Three years of experience in a large scale client/server production environment including multi-tier architectures, load balanced workloads, caching, web servers, application servers, and databases.
Three years of experience administering and supporting Microsoft Windows enterprise environment. Familiarity with PaaS and cloud networking services such as security groups, routing tables, application gateways, and DNS.
Three years of experience with automation, cloud technology, and virtualization solutions including PowerShell, AWS, Azure, GCP, configuration management tools and monitoring tools.
Working knowledge of directory services (LDAP, AD, Azure Active Directory), single sign-on (SSO) technologies.
Experience in Microsoft Azure (PaaS / IaaS) and Office 365 stack.
Knowledge of IT problem-solving methodologies and techniques.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills.
Ability to work independently as a contributing team member and routinely update director on results.
Ability to contribute to group projects and work collaboratively as a member of a strong technical team.
Ability to travel once or twice a year for education, professional development, or conferences.
Ability to perform light lifting as appropriate for equipment installations and maintenance.
Flexibility in work schedule; willingness to occasionally adjust work hours for the systems maintenance and upgrades.
Off-business hours availability in case of systems emergencies.
Must live in the State of Michigan. We currently offer a work-from-home option, but flexibility is expected if there is a need or request to come to campus. This requires that an employee is available to arrive at campus within 1 to 1.5 hours, if requested by their supervisor.
The writing sample should include a document you have created for anything related to this line of work.

Desired Qualifications
Experience with VMware application stack.
Familiarity with Splunk, Git, Zabbix, Ansible and Continuous Integration (CI).
Certifications: Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA), AWS Certified Solutions Architect, VMware Certified Professional – Cloud Management and Automation, MCSE: Cloud Platform and Infrastructure

Position Purpose
Join University Technology Services as a key member of the Technical Services team. Your work provides technical leadership, analysis, guidance, recommendations, services and support pertaining to:

  • Core Microsoft Windows Server infrastructure
  • Active Directory and related directory services
  • Private Cloud based on VMware technologies
  • Private – Public cloud integration, Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Server configuration management
  • Server and IT infrastructure monitoring
  • Application deployment support using CI/CD and containers.
You will be a member on a team responsible for the performance, implementation, and installation of the datacenter environment. Working with the Director, you will establish the technical direction for these environments and implement the established direction.

Projects are enterprise-wide and supportive of both academic and administrative operational organizations.
