SIGMADESIGN has collaborated with a global company seeking an experienced Health, Safety & Quality Engineer to join their facility in Gresham, OR. This company has been operating for over 50 years and is recognized as the world’s leading synthetic diamond and super-materials producer. Today, synthetic diamonds are widely used across industries and markets around the world; from playing a vital role in the production of next generation automotive engines, to powering high-speed digital telecommunications equipment, the synthetic diamond and related materials this company designs and manufactures impacts all of our lives.
About the role
The successful candidate will report to the Process Engineering Manager. They will play a lead role in ensuring a safe work environment for all employees. In addition through the use of standardized procedures and work methods drive improvements to ensure a defect free process. They will also be a key contributor to the overall activities of the Engineering Team.
For the successful candidate this will be a hands on role, commissioning new production tools and driving improvement projects.
Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities
Develop an in depth technical understanding of our processes and work with the various teams on site to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
Work directly with all levels of the facility to implement best practice health safety and quality improvement techniques.
Development and standardize our existing engineering/maintenance procedures to ensure defect free processes.
Proactively seek improvement opportunities in line with best practices and drive continuous improvement at all levels.
Become the in-house expert Health, Safety & Quality improvement techniques and take on a supporting role for the equipment and production technicians.
Education and Experience (Knowledge, skills, & abilities)
Minimum Bachelor Degree in related technical discipline
Minimum 3 years of experience in an engineering role
Experience with new projects, start-ups or process transfer experience a plus.
Successful track record of delivering on commitments
Experience in managing both internal and external resources: maintenance, design, OEM, etc.
Ability to work in a fast moving work environment
Comfortable in leading and dealing with change.
Self-motivated and comfortable taking on responsibility.
Demonstrable experience of breaking down and resolving challenging technical problems.
Understands the importance of and has the ability to communicate effectively.
Excellent computer literacy including data analysis, project planning and presentations
