The Equipment Engineer reports directly to the Vice President of Operations and Technology and will be responsible for completing new equipment development development followed by managing and directing crews for in field use/trouble shooting and successful use and application of new equipment.
Duties/Responsibilities, Core knowledge:
Provide technical assistance in using and maintaining company equipment
Visit customer sites to assist in equipment use and product application.
Analyze equipment malfunctions and failures and develop corrective actions.
Develop improvements to enhance reliability and scalability.
Develop preventative maintenance procedures to reduce equipment failures and downtime.
Work to develop next generation performance procedures.
Provide 24/7 support for troubleshooting equipment.
Test and approve new equipment design.
Act as primary contact for equipment
Effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams
Must work with many departments including the product group, marketing and R&D to ensure a proper design and effective use and implementation of new equipment.
Periodically write new product information literature including technical service bulletins, data sheets, application instructions, usage guides, etc.
Coordinate requests for material review by the Analytical Lab and report back with written and/or verbal instruction.
Review project design for compliance with engineering standards, local codes and government compliance.
Maintain a clean, safe and professional environment and job site.
Approximately 50% travel is required, may include overnight travel.
Perform all other duties as assigned by management.
Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Special Physical Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
Four to ten years related experience and/or training
Two year minimum experience in equipment design/maintenance
Must have knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems to troubleshoot in the field
Ability to manage multiple priorities and make decisions on most critical to keep project moving forward
Must be willing to lead all phases of project. This will include being a self-motivated team player.
Must be able to lead and direct crews on set up and operation of the equipment in the field.
Should possess the knowledge or ability to quickly learn the roofing trades including materials of construction and installation techniques.
Must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with all levels of management as well as customers.
Must be able to communicate technical concepts proficiently both verbally and in written form related to product usage, competitive product analysis, product specifications, product repairs and problems, etc.
Must possess strong problem-solving skills and employ a solutions-orientated approach.
Must have strong organizational skills.
Ability to consistently meet deadlines and respond to requests in a timely manner.
Knowledge of use, care, spill and disposal of chemicals required.
Have an excellent command of the English language and be able to clearly articulate ideas and situations verbally, in written form and in presentations.
Knowledge of construction site safety requirements and protocols as well as disposal of spills and chemicals a plus.
Knowledge of Roofing system, including substrates, materials and installation methods a plus.
