POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Project Manager – Battery - P03055
Reports To: Platform Manager - Battery
Classification: Exempt
Status: Regular Full-time
Location: Auburn Hills

Job Summary:
The Project Manager (PM) is the product owner and point of contact for the product delivery team from the prototype to launch phase of the program. The disciplines within the scope of the PM include Engineering (mechanical, electrochemical), Validation, Manufacturing, Finance, Sales, and Purchasing. The PM will be expected to work within the XALT product development process while continually improving and adapting that process as necessary.

Primary Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain the master program-level workplan incorporating customer milestones and critical internal milestones from participating disciplines (engineering, validation, manufacturing, purchasing). This includes considerable interaction with the various disciplines to ensure their workplans remain synchronized with the master plan.
The PM develops and maintains the master program timing plans, leads the program-level meetings, manages program-level financial tracking, and maintains program status dashboards.
The PM will aggressively manage to milestones, looking ahead to identify and remove obstacles and conflicts.
They are responsible for ensuring APQP deliverables are tracked and reported out through the phase gate process.
Lead XALT program meetings; maintain minutes and action item lists.
Schedule Gate events and ensure XALT readiness to support (e.g., critical design reviews, commissioning & sign-offs, product deliveries, and new product workshops).
Establish and maintain Program Budget covering ED&T spending, allocated tooling, BOM costs, prototype materials, travel, and support costs.
Rigorously enforce Change Management discipline to ensure parts, subassemblies, and systems are reflect and comply with the appropriate revision levels of the customer and product specifications.
Interactively coordinate internal XALT departments to meet customer deliverables. This includes:
Lead internal reviews to ensure plans and progress are evident and visible.
Actively engage with departments’ leadership to identify issues/risks and solutions
Develop risk management plans and oversee their execution
Escalate issues as appropriate

Additional Support Responsibilities
Work with cell engineering, manufacturing engineering and quality to monitor and enforce compliance with customer and internal requirements.
Support up-front Requirements capture by assisting with Team Feasibility Assessments and CRD completion.
Support development builds and Launch events onsite in Midland.

Position Qualifications:
B.S. in engineering
Minimum 3 years of experience leading projects through complete product development cycles including launch.
Must have sufficiently broad knowledge of battery systems, cells, and experience with program management disciplines and tools to coordinate the actions of the program team.
Training and work experience in technical risk and priority management.
Minimum 3 years of experience in design / release of electrical or mechanical components or systems into the transportation market.
Knowledge of APQP and PPAP disciplines.
Experience in electric vehicle programs and battery product development and/or integration is strongly preferred.
