Husky Energy is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Jeanne d’Arc Exploration team located in St. John’s, NL to work within an integrated team of geologists and geophysicists to characterize the potential for economic oil and gas opportunities. The position will involve interfacing with Geoscientists, Reservioir, Production and Drilling Engineers, as well as the Business Services group.
As a key member of an integrated team of professionals, the Reservoir Engineer will analyze pressure, rock and fluid behaviors to characterize reservoir potential by gathering and analyzing analogue well data, test analysis and gas/water flood management effectiveness. Using sound engineering principals and technical judgments, the successful candidate will make recommendations to management regarding exploration inventory development potential and will progress selected opportunities through all maturity levels to deliver drillable prospects.
Depletion planning (well count, well placement, production rates and profiles, recovery mechanism) and Development Concept economic evaluations
Land cycle (Call for bids) technical and economic evaluations
Gather, analyze and interpret technical reservoir data to be used in characterizing hydrocarbon potential (volumes and productivity) of exploration inventory opportunities
Facilitate the progression of exploration inventory opportunities through the Prospect and Well Design gated processes
Create well test design, recommendation and analysis
Pore pressure, rock & fluid modelling
Participation in Datarooms (farm-ins’, farm-down’s, etc.)
Lead progression of Reservoir Engineering Quality Assurance processes and procedures
Provide assistance in creating and packaging technical and strategic materials to be used in Management discussions (Global Exploration Forums, SVP Updates, Ranking Workshops, etc.)
Conduct typical reservoir engineering functions such as pressure transient analysis, Pressure Volume Temperature (PVT) and fluid analysis, and special core analysis and relative permeability studies
Provide reserve and contingent resources evaluations
Act as Exploration Inventory (Spotfire/Sharepoint) Administrator
Provide knowledge transfer to other reservoir engineers & mentor junior engineers.
Desired Experience & Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
Member in good standing or eligible for registration with Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland and Labrador (PEGNL)
10-15 years’ experience in oil and gas industry, with focus on reservoir engineering
Experience in property evaluations and acquisitions is an asset
Experience with simulation is an asset
Experience with software packages Prosper, GAP, Mosaic, PetroVR, @Risk, GeoX, Questor, Microsoft Office
Ability to work in a team environment dealing with people from various disciplines
Excellent presentation as well as written and oral communication skills
Exceptional analytical skills to identify key issues based on relevant data and provide appropriate solutions/recommendations in a proactive manner
Excellent organizational and planning skills with respect to establishing and accomplishing goals, creating and modifying schedules, and meeting deadlines.
