The Austin, TX office of TRC has a need for a Bridge/Structural Engineer with 3 to 6 years of experience. Candidates must have the ability to work within a team environment reporting to the Office Practice Leader. FE is preferred.
Candidates must have the desire to become proficient in the inspection, load rating, design, and detailing in MicroStation of:
Retrofits for Deficient Bridges
Foundation and Substructure Design of Bridges
Candidates must have a strong command of design principles and the ability to develop neat and accurate design calculations. Candidate should have strong oral and written communications skills. A candidate knowledgeable in Microstation and/or AutoCAD is a plus.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Review, verify, and validate structural calculations and construction drawings completed by other engineers
Participate in on-site bridge inspections to assist with identifying deficiencies.
From inspection reports, review of as-built drawings, and previous design documents, develop finite element models of complex bridges and develop load ratings in accordance with AASHTO.
Develop design calculations for bridge rehabilitation and new bridge design projects.
Develop details in Microstation for bridge rehabilitation and new bridge designs.
Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; or a Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering. PHD in Civil Engineering is a plus.
