Come join our team in Cedar Rapids, IA where we are currently searching for a Project Engineer to support REACh process integration and sustainment activities across and for our Mission Systems business unit.

Job Description and Summary:
As the REACh subject matter expert (SME), you will serve as the technical resource to Engineering, Operations, Program Management, Supply Chain, and Quality communities for electrical and mechanical components, materials and related processes. You will support Supply Chain and application/materials/processes engineering to ensure alignment on component selection and parts standardization. To satisfy new product development requirements, you will help identify, evaluate, and recommend new components while improving existing manufacturing process yields.

We must comply with the requirements of REACh (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals) which is a European Union regulation that addresses the production and use of chemical substances of very high concern (SVHC), and their potential impacts on both human health and the environment. As you follow through with these green initiatives, you will have the full support of the Mission Systems REACh Program Chief to execute REACh plans and coordinate with the highest-level Collins Aerospace REACh program office.

Your diverse array of job responsibilities will include:
Lead the establishment of REACh initiatives, sources of supply, and acceptance criteria for new product development.
Mentor Hardware Engineers in the documentation and release of components, processes, technology roadmaps, and design guidelines.
Support the Mission Systems REACh Program Chief in areas of REACh execution including planning, assessment, sunset plans, and process/tool improvements to address parts elimination, weight calculations and parts selection.
Drive improvements to process, tools, methods, and systems to improve awareness and automation of REACh activities.
Support BOM (Bills of Material) analyses to identify SVHCs prior to submitting contract proposals.
Present strategic and technical REACh/SVHC information and status to senior management and internal/external customers.
Ensure compliance with international trade compliance policies and procedures.
Protect Collins Aerospace and safeguard customers and supplier/partner intellectual property.
Participate in the Green Solutions Working Group (GSWG) and other industry committees such as the International Aerospace Environmental Group (IAEG).
This position may require occasional travel.

Basic Qualifications & Key Attributes/skills:
US Citizenship
Ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance
Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline; Master's degree preferred
Minimum 4+ years of experience in engineering with Bachelor's degree. Entry-level Master's degree will be considered.
Materials of Concern, ECHA, REACh, and SVHCs experience preferred
Program PMP Experience (Parts, Materials, and Processes) preferred
Detail-oriented with problem solving ability is a must
Collaboration skills ability to work with multiple dynamic disciplines to solve problems
Strong organizational and critical thinking acumen with good verbal and written communication skill
Experience with and interested in managing projects
Ability to lead others to develop innovative solutions to problems
Results-oriented and motivated to provide solutions with measurable benefit
Demonstrated performance as a self-starter and an initiative-taker with the ability to manage multiple priorities within a team environment and meet documented schedule commitments
