The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) is seeking an Access Control System Administrator in Cheyenne, Wyoming. As an Access Control System Administrator, you will be responsible for performing various duties, under limited supervision, to provide a safe, high-quality, and efficient transportation system. You will oversee the Access Control System, video monitoring system, lock system hardware, and building informational signs and all associated components, enabling the Facility Maintenance staff to provide professional and cost-effective management and operation of the Wyoming Department of Transportation.
Cheyenne is a steadily growing community along the Front Range but still true to the Old West's history. The city offers nearby mountain biking, skiing, hiking, fishing, hunting, and other outdoor activities. Cheyenne also is home to the "Daddy of 'em All" – Cheyenne Frontier Days – held every last week of July. Wyoming is one of only seven states with no state income tax.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.
Installs Access Control system wiring and components as necessary for new and or existing systems
Maintains Access Control System files and databases
Works with the Facility Manager to establish the criteria for access credentials and security levels
Ensures all systems comply with ADA and all other applicable codes and standards
Leads the work on Access Control system installation projects
Manages and provides locksmith services for WYDOT
Installs, maintain, and repairs interior/exterior door locks and hardware
Maintains and develops issued key records to maintain the integrity of the system
Assists with installing information and direction signs, including directories, door signs, room numbers, etc.
Provides technical support and services information statewide to all WYDOT facilities personnel
Analyzes system reports, codes, alarms, and events to ensure proper operation and application of the systems
Generates reports and requests for new keys from the work order system and catalog signature cards
Assists the other technical staff members as requested on various electrical, HVAC, and carpentry projects
Works with vendors, contractors, and architects to ensure the proper installation, ease of maintenance, prompt repair, and testing of card access/alarm related hardware and software
Preference will be given to those with a Journeyman Electrician License
Preference will be given to those with a Low-voltage License
Proficient in the use of the Hirsch Access Control System Software and Video System Software
Proficient in the installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Hirsch Access Control components, panels, scramble pads, proxy card readers, mag locks, electronic strips, touch bars, contact relays, video cameras, monitors, and DVR's
Possess electrical, electronic system installation, and maintenance experience; properly licensed and trained.
Knowledge of advanced computer skills– Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Access)
Knowledge of electrical diagnostics
Knowledge of applicable building codes
Knowledge of power woodworking, metalworking, and masonry equipment
Knowledge of how locksets, door closers, panic bars, and operators work
Knowledge of various types of key cutting machines
0-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Skilled Trades) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Skilled Trades Laborer
Education & Experience Substitution:
2-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Skilled Trades) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Skilled Trades Laborer

Necessary Special Requirements
Successful applicant will be subjected to a thorough background/fingerprint investigation
Required to assist the Senior Carpenter with office reconfigurations and other trades or
grounds employees when requested to do so
Assists with managing the work of door operator contractors
Considered to be essential Personnel and must report to work even if the State offices are
closed due to weather or other events
Available for assignments of snow removal operations during and after snow events
Must have a schedule that accommodates last minute requests (access granting or
canceling, door unlocking, emergency lockdowns, etc.)
