Your Role: FMI is seeking a creative and experienced Design Engineer to join our Technology Development team! This role will design, develop and advance current modeling capabilities for carbon fiber-based composites and sustain the gap between modeling and empirical testing to reduce cost of composites manufacturing.
Engage with modeling software vendors
Relate composite behaviors to determine limitations in vendor software capabilities to better understand their capabilities
Replicate theoretical models within which:
Modeling shall be developed at macro and micro scale of composite materials;
Materials will be modeled for mechanical, thermal, and aerodynamic properties within representative environments
Key properties will be developed for composite families such as C/C, CMC or PMC
Cost reduction methods for materials development
Develop a system for engineers and scientists to easily access the tools and models to facilitate the development of materials and processes for carbon fiber materials and components
