To identify and analyze opportunities, develop project plans for prioritized projects, and manage assigned projects through completion that improve KNA manufacturing processes, tools, and equipment for the purposes of increasing productivity, enhancing quality and reducing manufacturing costs (optimize the use of workers, machines, materials and facilities).
To support the development and introduction of new products and the inter-company transfer of products between international and/or domestic manufacturing locations.
To provide day-to-day production support to operations; to design, procure and maintain production tools and fixtures; and to establish and maintain routings.
Assignments have clear and specified objectives and require the investigation of a limited number of variables.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Receives instructions on specific assignment objectives, complex features, and possible solutions.
Assistance is provided on unusual problems and work is reviewed for application of sound professional judgement.
Responsibilities involve conventional types of plans, investigations, structures, or equipment with relatively few complex features for which there are precedents.
Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
Evaluate and develop alternative manufacturing processes and technologies by applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, materials, internal logistics and supply chain; conferring with equipment suppliers; soliciting observations from others.
To assist in achieving successful and timely introduction of new products into production by supporting VOC, QFD, FMEA, R & D and design validation activities, and taking a lead role in 3P/DFM and intro-to-manufacturing activities.
To support the goals of NPD initiatives by helping to insure that selected manufacturing location has the space, processes, technology and logisitics capabilities best suited for production of new product.
Develop manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, material and labor costs, investments, capacities, as well as related constraints and timeline considerations.
Act as a key point of contact for the inter-company transfer of manufactured products or manufacturing processes to/from AKW and KNA or within KNA.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assure product and process quality by designing evaluation methods, testing finished-product and process capabilities, establishing standards, and confirming manufacturing processes.
Coordinate the work of others in performing responsibilities and completing projects.
Provides guidance to technicians assisting with assignments.
Collaborate with other departments such as Product Engineering, Operations and with key suppliers.
Recognize technical, scheduling, and resource concerns, and initiate corrective actions.
Provide input for schedules and workloads related to areas of responsibility.
Carries out limited investigations related to research and analysis projects with guidance from others.
Assist in the selection, training and development of new personnel.
Control expenses related to areas of responsibility.
Participate project / status and departmental meetings.
Other duties as assigned.
Routine supervision is received. Employee plans and prioritizes most daily activities and tasks within established methods and processes. Work is periodically reviewed prior to completion.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities over subordinate staff in accordance with company policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; recommending the hiring, rewarding and disciplining of employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Minimum of a Bachelor Degree in Engineering or related science, or equivalent combination of education and / or experience. Additional class work in Lean, project management courses and problem-solving techniques is preferred.
This is an entry-level position.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and tools, and manufacturing processes, technologies and systems.
Ability to build and maintain relationships, both internally and externally, based upon trust, confidence and personal rapport.
Strong mechanical aptitude is required so as to understand the functional principles of the equipment KNA produces and capabilities of manufacturing technologies.
Proficiency in MS Office products is required, and experience with MS Project, Visio and Outlook are plusses.
Mastery of the English language is a must. Other languages, such as Spanish, German, and Chinese are plusses.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret spreadsheets, technical data, and regulatory documents.
Ability to present information to internal and external audiences.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as capacities, efficiency, productivity and yield. Ability to apply concepts of algebra and geometry.
Ability to develop and analyze data to solve practical problems with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form from colleagues who's native language is not English.
Frequent sitting, standing, walking and occasional stair-climbing required.
Must be able to respond to all Operations areas as needed.
Occasional lifting and carrying required, up to 40 pounds.
Primarily office setting, with some exposure to factory environment with noise.
Travel is required - local, domestic and international (including Mexico, Asia and/or Europe occasionally)
