The Plant Manager – BTR, is a critical leadership role, overseeing the operation of the largest lubricant blending facility within the region. The Plant Manager is responsible for the overall performance, direction, and execution of operations within the Baton Rouge plant, and has a significant supporting role for associated local overflow warehouse and bulk trans flow sites. Support manufacturing activity, including Contract manufacturing, across AMR, optimizing the performance of the manufacturing assets in terms of safety, cost, service, people and quality. The Plant Manager establishes a Vision and Objectives for the Plant that is aligned with the goals of the GSC – Americas, and its business partners. These Objectives establish core performance and Continuous Improvement (CI) priorities within HSSE, Quality, Customer Service, and Cost & Cash (Value Creation) within the plant.
The Plant Manager achieves these objectives via the use of effective leadership skills (communication, listening, coaching), the continuous demonstration of BP Values & Behaviors and Leadership Expectation, such that functional/ departmental objectives are established and aligned to deliver the overall Plant goals. Through effective delegation and oversight of the local Operations Leadership Team (OLT), comprised of functional managers from the HSSE, Quality, Process, Production, Warehouse & Distribution, Planning & Scheduling, Quality, Engineering, and Manufacturing Excellence functional areas, the Plant Manager is accountable for the delivery of Plant Objectives leveraging a “One Team” approach to optimize the performance of the plant, recognizing that optimizing the plant performance as a whole comes as a priority over the functional performance of the departments:
- Is the on-site company representative in all matters relevant to manufacturing with all local governmental agencies.
- Represents the Company in the community and promotes the company’s goodwill and interests in community activities with strong connectivity to BP-CPA and regional HR.
At least 12 - 15 years’ experience in manufacturing environment preferred in a Supply Chain management role demonstrating good knowledge of production management and its measurements. •
5-7 years of Strategic level experience and leadership of people across multi-site operations.
Chemical or Mechanical Engineer preferred but other disciplines considered with relevant experience.
Broad Supply Chain Management experience required, preferably within the lubricants business. Must have a demonstrated track record of leading large, diverse, manufacturing operations with a heavy emphasis on:
Comprehensive knowledge, experience, and leadership expertise is operational safety and quality management
Manufacturing performance management. Clearly understands the fundamental principles of the working of the plant, and how materials, manufacturing processes, people, and assets interact to support conversion of quality products in the most cost optimized way.
Strong leadership skills. Uses impact and influence extensively and effectively to create alignment around the vision, the methods, and the steps required that enable the change. Adept at engagement on the shop floor, with plant leadership, and in the board room.
Strong Change management skills. Including resource planning, project/execution, and computer-based tools. Effective in both understanding and implementation of change management requirements for large organizational initiatives.
Chemical/ lubricants processing, FMCG production, and engineering experience, is highly desirable. Prior experience as a Plant Manager or Operations Manager in a large scale organization would be considered an asset.
