The Surveyor is responsible for providing surveying service to ensure construction work complies with design drawings. Includes surveying for construction and/or rehabilitation of river bridges, locks, dams and barge docks. He or she also reinforces Massman s Incident & Injury Free Initiative along with our corporate mission and vision statement in the daily performance of their work.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Provides work control lines and elevations that are required for accurate measurement and correct installation of materials by crafts, i.e., geometric layout of bridges, alignment of concrete formwork, positioning of marine equipment, anchor bolts, etc.
Verification of as-built conditions that require the use of surveying techniques.
Perform survey and quantity calculations as required.
Documents surveying activities.
Maintains surveying equipment.
Coordinates surveying activities with the assigned engineer to meet the construction requirements.
Communicates and reinforces the Company vision, values and goals.
Performs additional assignments per supervisor s direction.
2 year technical engineering/surveying training plus minimum 1 year construction surveying experience or equivalent combinations of training and related experience.
Thorough knowledge of and ability to use all surveying equipment and techniques.
Ability to accurately read blueprints and perform calculations.
Effective communication skills.
Ability to work with a team.
Must be able to perform work on elevated structures.
Must be able to perform work from marine equipment and structures.
Self-motivated and proven ability to lead collaborative efforts.
Ability to navigate project sites, which may include walking over uneven terrain, climbing, and bending
Ability to work in extreme hot and cold weather conditions
Out of town travel will be required
