This scientist/engineer will be responsible for performing plastics/polymer engineering duties in tandem with the other members of the polymer group. This position is expected to start as a support role to other engineers and scientists, but would expand over time into direct consulting and testing efforts for external clients. The ideal candidate would have experience with polymer science and plastics engineering, in order to translate fundamental polymer science concepts into problem-solving for our clients.
Stress Engineering uses fundamental understanding of materials, testing, and modeling to develop critical solutions for our clients. The ideal candidate is expected to be able to handle a diverse and dynamic set of issues on a daily basis to solve critical and time-sensitive issues.
This engineer will work in multiple industrial sectors. This scientist/engineer will gain experience with a wide range of plastics, elastomers, and thermosets; and from commodity to engineering to high performance grades. The scientist/engineer will be exposed to significant on-the-job training on the path to achieve these duties.
PhD and BS in Materials Science and Engineering, Plastics Engineering, Polymer Science, or similar (required)
Minimum 2 years of industry experience in Material Science/Engineering or Chemical Engineering (required)
Good communication skills, both written and oral (required)
Experience in polymer testing (required)
Strong verbal and written communication and organizational skills (required)

Experienced with characterization of polymers and elastomers. This may include techniques such as DSC, TGA, FTIR, TD/MS, GC/MS, compression set, mechanical testing, seal analysis, etc. (preferred)
Experience or Training in Medical Devices, Biomedical Engineering, or Biology
Including experience or training in biological laboratory techniques, such as cell culturing, biochemical and microbiological assays, biocompatibility testing, etc. (preferred)
Experience or training in injection molding (preferred)
Ability to work in USA for any employer without restrictions or sponsorship
