We’re looking for a Camera Engineer to join Snap Inc! As a member of the Camera and Optics team, you will be responsible for development of compact camera modules with responsibility over the entire lifecycle of the hardware from concept to product ramp . Working from our Boulder,Colorado office, you’ll collaborate with User Research, Image Quality, Mechanical, Electrical, and Software to develop compact camera solutions, camera requirements, verify camera performance, testing hardware, software, and procedures for Snaplab camera products.
What you’ll do:
Develop next generation camera hardware based on customer feedback and user research including sensor selection, and developing lens requirements.
Lead camera testing at Snaplab and at manufacturing sites for camera design evaluation, module prototype builds, and qualification
Define testing and qualification plans of the camera lens at different stages of development, from concept to product ramp
Work with imaging firmware, tuning, and software engineers to properly develop testing and calibration solutions
Set up and conduct optical laboratory tests of systems for both prototype and production use
Evaluate and debug camera hardware at module and product levels with supporting simulation
Document camera-specific design, test, and manufacturing requirements
Travel to supplier facilities for product development and production bring-up
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of compact camera image sensors, lenses, manufacturing, testing, and module suppliers
Skilled in managing vendors capable of high volume production and test processes for high-precision, high-volume modules
Knowledge of image quality evaluation including test charts, algorithms, and lighting
Skilled with Python/Matlab for data analysis
Knowledge of image data manipulation and computation and interpretation of standard image quality metrics through Imatest or similar
Ability to work independently and manage internal and external resources
5+ years of experience designing, testing, or building camera modules
Bachelor's degree optical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science or related field, or equivalent practical experience
