NGK Automotive Ceramics USA, Inc. directly supports and supplies all major automobile and heavy-duty diesel manufacturers with high-performance precision ceramic components for diesel and gasoline engine emission control systems.
NGK Automotive Ceramics, USA Inc. is seeking an entry level Product Engineer for our Novi, MI sales office. The qualified candidate should have a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in engineering and 1-4 years of related engineering experience. .
I. BASIC FUNCTIONS
The Product Engineer will lead NGK future engineering programs, testing and simulations for automobile industries including but not limited to, regulator relations, customer relations, product engineering/development and future technology initiatives. Manages engineering activities within the Product Management organization and implements and maintains engineering objectives and initiatives. Manages all meetings. Reports to the Manager of Product Management regarding technical and commercial aspects of the business.
II. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Monitor and navigate environmental regulation, market and technology trends to support the automobile and aftertreatment industry for N.A.
Assist with the design, select and maintain critical information on products and technology.
Maintaining quality and timeliness of answers to customer inquiries, problems and/or complaints.
Provides input on the concept of technical support and product development for N.A.
Monitor key market and customers' future technical requirement and suitable NGK's technology option.
Provides technical aftertreatment requirement and new product introduction proposals to NGK /Japan product development.
Develop business relations with key customers and build a network of business partners in N.A.
Provides input and development direction on key issues related to customers and competitors on both technical and commercial aspects of the business.
Monitor competitor performance and recommend technology development strategies as required. Anticipates possible future actions of the competition.
Produce timely issuance of technical service reports and the proper dissemination of information.
Conferring with other members in the Business Management team, perform in-depth research for customer's future technology requirement and develop proposals on appropriate products and technology.
Work with Product Development members to coordinate engine bench tests and lab facility testing as well as it's analysis and simulation.
Works with the Chief Technology Officer, Engineering Manager and VP.
Assist in the development of NGK proposals including supporting technical data and prototypes samples.
Participate in product and technical preparation and plan its introduction for evaluation throughout customer projects.
Participate in investigation results of evaluated parts to meet customer's desired goal.
Participate actively at conferences as a speaker/presenter or participant.
Performs various other duties, as required by superior.
Education/Training: Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent.
Experience: 1-4 years of direct Commercial and Engineering experience or equivalent.
Skills/Aptitude: Excellent project management skills, Effective oral and written communication skills, Excellent inter-personal skills and presentation skills.
Work Environment: Office and testing environment. Overtime may be required to meet program/project deadlines. Physically able to participate in presentations, and meetings. Domestic and International travel is required.
Salary Range: $58,000 - $62,000
