Performs & analyzes routine to moderately complex engineering functions, quality control functions designs, & specifications to achieve efficient, cost effective and reliable manufacturing or measuring processes, applying mathematical, physical science, & engineering technologies. Follows established procedures in completing multiple technical assignments.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists in the testing & detailed documentation of new and current parts, materials, components & acceptance equipment under technical guidance of higher level Mechanical Engineers or department management.
Develops measuring methods which designate tooling, gauges, acceptance equipment, & processing procedures.
Coordinates product & acceptance equipment designs & ordering of testers, gauges, & lab equipment to support production acceptance.
Defines & acquires tooling, gauging & other equipment necessary to test parts & to assure product quality based on ISO compliant systems.
Estimates mechanical test set-up times, operating times, & flow times, as well as production & acceptance needs Participates in establishing testing procedures on new products & components Develops test procedures & performs routine to moderately complex engineering evaluation tests, product & process capability studies, quality audits, product or project data reviews, & other engineering evaluation work to ensure parts & materials meet required specifications Provides technical assistance in appropriate manufacturing, testing & inspection areas.
Analyzes processes/products, & records/characterizes/implements proper controls on mechanical testing processes.
Conducts audits to anticipate, identify, & correct problems and to measure quality levels & trends.
Interacts with design agencies, suppliers, & internal organizations to assist in resolving design, development, production, & acceptance issues.
Some limited travel (< 15%) required.
Prepares evaluation reports, analyzes discrepancies.

This position is located in Kansas City, Missouri.
You Must Have:
US citizenship to obtain and maintain US Dept of Energy ""Q"" level security clearance.
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent engineering degree (Aerospace, Materials, Chemical, Electrical, Industrial) from an ABET accredited engineering program.
Two (2) or more years of directly applied engineering experience.
Five (5) or more years of directly applied experience in Mechanical Engineering or related technical activities, such as manufacturing, mechanical testing & inspection processing.
Experience in quality acceptance & ISO-defined quality systems with emphasis on public domain processes including ASTM, ISO, Mil-Stds & other commercial quality documentation.
Advanced degree in an engineering, engineering management, or business discipline is advantageous.
Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) & Earned Value Management (EVM) systems.
Six Sigma certification (black belt; green belt) preferred.
Strong communication, interactive & presentation skills. Experience presenting technical material to varied levels of audiences. Ability to motivate others to produce on-target & timely results.
Ability to apply design, development, evaluation, and quality control techniques to routine through moderately complex engineering projects.
Ability to analyze routine to moderately complex engineering designs & specifications to achieve efficient & reliable manufacturing or acceptance processes.
Experience interpreting technical drawings and documents.
Experience testing materials and parts - compression testing, hardness testing, tensile testing, torque testing, load testing, friction testing, shear strength testing, load capacity testing, density testing, adhesion testing, etc
