DESCRIPTION

SUMMARY:
Creates novel robotic devices for diverse applications in medical, military, and scientific research fields. Participates in aspects of design and engineering including concept generation, mechanical design and/or electrical design, testing, and documentation. Works on multiple projects of moderate size or on portions of major projects. Design aspects may range from interfacing with sensors and communication buses, power supplies and power management, brushless motor control electronics as well as controllers for electro-mechanical devices. Engages in continuous improvement initiatives. Demonstrates comfort level with mechanism (and ideally some electrical) design, sensors, and electric motors typical of robotic systems, as well as hands-on debugging of electro-mechanical systems and has the ability to work in a highly-collaborative, multi-disciplinary team environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develops mechatronic products and systems such as robots, actuators, instruments, and sensors
Electro/mechanical assembly of prototype designs
Debugs, tests and integration of robotic systems
Designs and conducts experiments
Analyzes and interprets data
Incorporates customer requirements into planning and work
Experience with designing, prototyping, and testing robotic/mechatronic systems
Experience with 3D mechanical CAD (SolidWorks preferred)
Experience with PCB CAD (e.g. Altium, Eagle, …)
Soldering
Matlab and/or Python
Robotics fundamentals (kinematics, dynamics, sensing, controls, etc.)
Familiarity with instrumentation & tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.
Ability and desire to learn new concepts and skills quickly
Ability to conceptualize and implement the design of complex mechanisms
Proactively identifies and mitigates risk
Receives and follows direction
Guides work of intern(s)
Works professionally with teammates and colleagues
Reports progress and status
Completes assigned tasks on time and budget while meeting technical requirements
Develop BOEs

EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer or Robotic Engineering from accredited school or equivalent experience require; Passed FE exam preferred

0 - 10 years work experience
