Job Summary :
The person hired for the position Systems Engineer will be responsible for the design and implementation of software systems that integrate with the upper level manufacturing and business data systems and the lower level control systems used to manufacture 3M products. The implementations will be at the 3M manufacturing site in Nevada, MO. This information is collected and used for data analytics in both real-time and historically.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Management and Execution of Projects: Utilizing knowledge and understanding of the Engineering organization through completion of assigned projects, along with strong project management skills to organize and execute projects for manufacturing, laboratory and other facilities. Utilizing technical skills, compiling and reviewing information to evaluate project scope, equipment specifications and other project requirements, while developing skills for early identification of issues affecting project success. Assesses alternative methods to solve project-related problems. Establishing and coordinating project time lines with business partners, suppliers and project team. Consulting with business partners, suppliers, plant and engineering personnel, as well as the appropriate management regarding project status, timelines, and cost, while reporting project implementation and status to appropriate personnel.
Financial Responsibility: Managing financial aspects of assigned projects, including estimating expenditures, contributing to the creation of AFE, purchasing materials and/or services, monitoring and tracking costs, and payment. Utilizing engineering, sourcing and financial systems to stay within established budget guidelines.
Intellectual Property, Regulations, and Compliance: Protecting 3M Intellectual Property through the understanding and appropriate use of competitive technology awareness, government regulation awareness, supplier/consultant agreements, records of invention, patents, and technical notebooks. Contributes to the development of proprietary positions. Following and promoting corporate business conduct, safety, health, and environmental policies and practices, including Engineering guidelines, standards, and specifications, while having working knowledge of local/state/federal/country government codes and regulations as appropriate to the assignment.

Possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering (completed and verified prior to start) (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
Experience with Computer Security Systems and Ethernet Networking
Experience working with SQL databases
Experience programming in C#, Java, and C++ environments
Master's degree or higher in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution
Experience integrating SCADA in a manufacturing environment.
Experience working with WonderWare Archestra, InSql, and Wonderware InTouch HMI Application.
Experience in Process Instrumentation & Controls Systems (PI&CS) and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programing.
Familiarity with industrial equipment control systems.
Experience with Excel spreadsheet Macro development/support.
Knowledge of PI&CS supported software platforms and applications.
Experience managing outside contract project work.
Demonstrated project leadership skills.
Ability to work on a cross functional team within a manufacturing organization.
Strong oral and written communication skills
Location: Nevada, MO
Travel: May include up to 10% domestic
