Primary Role and Responsibilities
The vCIO should discover what the client’s business does to earn revenue, how it operates internally to achieve that revenue and what their business goals/plans are near and long term.
The vCIO should discover what the client's applications are and what the business purpose is for the applications that they are using, i.e. how does this application/system help them accomplish their business goals. In addition, to help a client take advantage of the technology they have to meet their business objectives.
Business and Technology Strategic Communication
The vCIO must be able to communicate to the CITOC Professional services team and the MSP Engineering team what he/she has discovered in the Business and Technology strategic analysis.
Standards Alignment, Roadmap and Budget
The vCIO, in conjunction with the Technical Alignment Engineer, is to submit to the Professional services team any discrepancies that have been found between the client’s environment and the CITOC's I.T. Standards and Best Practices. Once the Professional services team has created scopes of work and proposals for the client, the vCIO will submit and explain to the client any quotes generated from that process. In addition, from the Technical Alignment engineer and the Professional team’s work the vCIO is to define a technical roadmap and an I.T. budget for the client. The vCIO needs to be able to explain, in layman’s terms, to the client what the standards and best practices are and why the business needs them. Lastly the vCIO needs to be able to explain in layman’s terms each quote and what business objective that they achieve.
The vCIO manages the “business” relationship with the client and helps them achieve their business goals. He is the liaison between the Professional and MSP teams and the client. Tactical technical issues that a client communicates to the vCIO must be handed off to the Technical Alignment engineer or Service Management.
Complete understanding of CITOC’s Standards and Best Practices along with the ability to explain to the client in layman’s terms what they are and why they are necessary.
Complete understanding of CITOC’s recommended I.T. Policies and the ability to explain to the client in layman’s terms what they are and why they are necessary.
The ability to explain in laymen’s terms a proposed solution, how it works and how it benefits the client’s business.
The ability to explain to CITOC engineers, the client's Line Of Business applications, what data they create and what it consists of.

Technology Business Review (QBR)
Review of reactive tickets
Creation of a client meeting agenda
Proposal requests from the Professional services team
Creation of a Technical Roadmap from the Professional services and Technical Alignment engineer input
Initial creation of User Forms
Perform the Kickoff Meetings
Creates I.T. policy templates for client use
Owns the business relationship
