The Environmental Laboratory Health Safety Officer is responsible for all aspects of procedure and compliance for a full service environmantal analytical laboratory. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of local, state and federal environmantal and laboratory health and safety regulations. Position is based in Corvallis, OR.
Develops, implements and maintains company policies adhering to local, state and federal environmental, health and safety regulations.
Involved in work areas and work procedures and makes environmental, health and safety recommendations accordingly.
Preparing, maintaining, and updating environmental policy and procedure manuals.
Ensures compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization.
Formulates and maintains the Chemical Hygiene Plan, and manages the laboratory waste.
Tracks and assures the status of worker H&S requirements, training, and records.
Manages appropriate documents and identifying safety measures.
Acts as an advisor on health and safety issues regarding projects, tasks, and operations.
Present significant project work at professional conferences
Provide litigation support when necessary
Education and Experience:
Requires a Ph.D. in Chemical Hygiene, occupational safety, or a related scientific discipline and 2 years of experience; a Master’s degree and 6 years of experience; or a Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of directly related experience.
Requires excellent written and verbal communications skills, the ability to think critically, and direct Laboratory Health & Safety compliance experience.
Familiar with health and safety standard concepts, practices, and procedures.
Must be US Citizen; no sponsorship available.
Professional certification and/or designations in safety such as Certified Safety Professional, Radiation Safety Officer, Chemical Hygiene Officer, etc preferred.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities
Ability to be flexible, multi-task, prioritize, and manage multiple activities simultaneously in a fast-paced, changing environment
