Controls / Automation and Low Voltage Systems Division Leader:

Growing Engineering and mechanical company is seeking a highly motivated Building Automation Systems / Energy Management Systems professional for design, installation, and service of Building Automation Systems in the Austin, Texas area.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Niagara Triduum 4 and AX certified, Lon Certified
  • 7 of years’ experience in Building Automation Controls design, installation, and service.
  • Ability to managing multiple projects
  • Ability to estimate, design and install turnkey BAS systems based on project drawings and specifications
  • Ability to develop BAS programs based on written sequence of operations and stakeholders requirements and needs
  • Ability to create custom HMI graphics interfaces for the BAS systems.
  • Effectively coordinate with other groups on projects such as Prime contractors, Engineers. Architects, sub contactors, commissioning agents and various construction trades
  • Knowledge and experience with other control systems such as, Johnson Controls, Siemens, Trane, or Andover is a plus
  • Candidate should have experience with configuration of open protocols such as BACnet, LONworks, and Modbus
  • Ability to diagnose complex controls and mechanical issues
  • Knowledge and experience with TCP/IP networks a plus
  • Install and programming for but not limited to chiller plants, boiler plants, air handlers, fan coil units, humidifiers, industrial equipment, barnet integration, lon integration, compressed air, vacuum, process water systems, cooling towers, trend logging, alarms
  • Assist/perform system startup and trouble shooting of VFDs, RTUs, Split Systems, Chillers, Boilers, Air Handlers and other facility related equipment
  • Design trend log data systems with data backup and reporting
  • Work with IT professionals to integrate BMS into digital infrastructure securely while providing adequate access


  • Estimating, proposals and business development
  • Estimate, design and install BMS/EMS systems
  • Manage daily activities on various project, coordinating with electricians for conduit locations, wire pulls, terminations; self performing on small projects
  • Assist other divisions on low voltage system installation, trouble shooting and controls solutions
  • Perform commissioning and quality control checks for the MEP divisions; create pre functional and functional checklists tailored specific to projects
  • Startup for various MEP systems; chillers, VFDs, humidifiers, boilers and other digitally controlled systems; company will provide appropriate training and certification requirements
  • Coordinate with subs and additional staff
  • Participate in 3rd party commissioning on MEP systems and building control system to ensure proper operation
  • Participate in building system investigations, produce reports summarizing inadequacies and corrective prescriptions
  • Interact with CDMtek clients and end users to ensure desired intent
  • Interact with CDMtek Engineers, Managers & Owners to coordinate manpower, materials, equipment and other project needs
  • Participate in strategic planning for employee hires, tool & equipment investment
  • Assist and train personnel, report personnel incidents
