The Quality Engineer will support the day-to-day operations in the area of Quality for internal and external part quality or manufacturing process concerns, continuous improvement and monitoring of quality metrics. This includes:
Daily review of non-conforming products and determine disposition referred to as Red Bin Review.
Ensures all PPAP documents are linked, clearly defined, SOPs and parameters are recorded.
Heads the development of control plans focusing on process controls and detection.
Creates part inspection, rework or repair SOP.
Generates Quality Alerts and releases to internal and external teams per SOP.
Develops inspection methods and gauges. Facilitates MSA activities.
Performs and analyzes process capability and performance and performs continuous improvement to ensure customer specific requirements are satisfied.
Reviews and recalculates control limits to reduce part variation.
Conducts problem solving with cross-functional team using 8D methodology or customer specific format. Utilizes various quality tools for root cause determination and analysis.
Responds to customer complaints in a timely manner as well as closure of issue per Constellium Problem Solving QMS and CSR (Customer Specific Requirements).
Conducts training to supervisors, team leaders on any new or revised quality SOPs.
Facilitates any containment activities done internally or at customer sites. May need to travel to customer sites to ensure customer is protected. Able to analyze and create ICharts.
Serves as a liaison on Quality related communication or issues with the customer.
Participates in APQP and product development process.
Conducts quality audits, layered process audits, special process and product audits.
Log, monitor and reviews COPQ, complaints, non-conforming parts (red bin process) and analyzes data for defect prevention and continuous improvement.
Monitors deviation and quality alerts to ensure corrective measures are created preventing recurrence of issues.
Satisfies customer deliverables using customer portals to adhere to CSR (Customer Specific Requirements)
Champions six sigma projects utilizing DMAIC methodology.
Competency requirement (Quality Engineer)
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, ASQ certified CQE or equivalent.
Minimum 4 years’ experience as a quality engineer or associate in a high volume automotive parts manufacturing environment.
Background in creation of FMEA, CP, MSA and heading APQP activities. Ford PPAP requirements
PLEX experience a bonus
Must be proficient with Minitab and be able to generate and interpret Cpk studies, MSAs and other key statistics.
Responsible for supporting and approving tooling and gages per APQP process
Customer Portal knowledge – uploading, downloading, warranty, scorecard retrieval, WERS, etc.
Familiar with ISO and IATF 16949:2015 standards. Performs LPAs and internal process audits.
Able to interpret GD&T and able to read and understand engineering drawing.
Able to develop gauges and instructions for product inspection.
Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
Computer skills using Microsoft office tools (Word, Excel, Power point, Outlook, Access)
Excellent working attitude.
