We are currently recruiting for a Plant Electrical Engineer to be based in Louisiana Station Power Plant in Baton Rouge, LA. This position will primarily be responsible for plant engineering design, capital projects, NERC compliance, and operational and maintenance project support.
Participate in design reviews and discussions regarding site-specific requirements (grounding, power sources, convenience items, etc.)
Participate in internal design reviews from conceptual design through final package submittal
Support of production and field issues (assembly, wiring, testing, part substitutions, customer changes, troubleshooting)
Provide technical expertise and guidance in the resolution/prevention of equipment problems specifically in support of electrical engineering or project management.
Lead or participate in plant Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Failure Modes Effects Analysis (FMEA).
Periodic engineering support of the facility’s instrument & control equipment including the DCS, MKVe and other programmable logic controllers.
Direct the activities of contractors to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and schedules. Manage documentation revision control and track project progress
Research of suitable vendors for purchased material.
Identify, evaluate and provide solutions to complex technical problems in a timely manner.
Performs other duties and administrative tasks as assigned.
Write project scope and material specifications.
Provide budgetary support for assigned projects.
Required Skills / Knowledge
Strong Electrical background preferably in engineering support or design.
Technical knowledge of Power Plant Operations and Maintenance, performance calculations, and practices.
Strong computer skills to include spreadsheets, databases, wordprocessing and project software.
Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills
Must be able to communicate complex issues to management and peers clearly, concisely and accurately.
Aptitude for determining causes of failure.
Safety oriented: Keeps safety in mind always – looks out for the safety of teammates and self.
Ability to productively work independently and as an integral plant staff team member.
Capable of working independently with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a short time frame.
Self-motivation and the ability to manage multiple projects with changing priorities.
Ability to respond calmly and think clearly in emergency situations.
Progressive work experience in electrical power generation or related fields, 4 years minimum. 1-3 years of experience in design, project management, or equivalent industrial experience
A degree in electrical engineering/engineering technology preferred or equivalent industrial experience.
