As a Mechanical Engineer at Dynapower, you'll work together with our Electrical Engineers to design power conversion equipment for all of Dynapower's business segments - Industrial, High Power, Defense, and Clean Energy. Your work on products such as Chopper Rectifiers and Frequency Inverters helps Dynapower power a cleaner planet.
What You'll Be Doing:
On an average day, you'll:
Use Solidworks for the mechanical design of Dynapower's power conversion product line and custom projects
Work closely with Electrical Engineering, as well as the Procurement, Marketing, and Sales teams to design cost-effective and efficient products
Support product launches and contribute to setting the product strategy for our business segments
Collaborate with engineering and supply chain teams to deliver quick time-to-market products
What You Need To Apply:
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Minimum of 2 years of experience working for an electrical equipment manufacturer – preferably in the power electronics and renewable energy industry.
3-5 years in a product design role – proven track record of successful deployment of manufactured product.
Experience with Solidworks 3D modeling software.
Keen understanding of design practices and requirements relating to outdoor installation and operation of electrical equipment in environmentally diverse conditions.
Interpret electrical schematics to verify proper connections and power flow layouts are mapped to the efficient mechanical design of the products.
Preferred Education and Experience
Advanced degree, such as Master’s in Mechanical Engineering.
5 years of experience in power electronics equipment industry.
Basic working knowledge of electrical power engineering – three-phase power, rectifiers, inverters, transformers and electronic control systems.
An understanding of product life cycle.
Experience working with contract manufacturers.
Experience with thermal modeling of electrical equipment.
Experience with Solidworks EPDM or comparable Product Data Management system.
Formal training or hand-on experience in design techniques such as Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Testability (DFT).

This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday. This position is based in South Burlington, VT. The position operates in a professional office environment. Regular trips to manufacturing plants for observation, research or customer visits are likely to be required.
