ERM is seeking a motivated Junior Environmental Impact Assessment Consultant to join our growing office in New Orleans, Louisiana or Baton Rouge, Louisiana . The successful candidate will assist Project Managers on a variety of Environmental, Social & Health Impact Assessment projects to support our oil & gas, power, and manufacturing sector focus. Provide technical assistance on Louisiana State and federal permitting for clients’ (i.e., oil and gas, power generation, electrical transmission, renewable/alternative energy, and Brownfields projects).
Conduct tasks related to environmental impact assessment, land use planning, facility siting and permitting, risk assessment, and water resources management.
Assist on linear permitting projects; provide construction inspection activities for natural gas pipelines, power transmission lines, utility corridors, and petroleum pipelines.
Perform multi-media permitting and compliance associated with development projects with an emphasis on U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and State Historical Commissions.
Assist with developing corporate and industrial management systems and strategies relating to multi-media management and/or health and safety.
Provide technical support to Project Managers for the Impact and Assessment and Planning service area on ecological and permitting risk assessment tasks.
Work within quality/budget/schedule expectations and scope-specific assignments.
Communicate with subcontractors, regulatory agents, tenants, and clients during field activities.
Short-term ecological field-based work possible
BS in environmental engineering, environmental science, biology, or related discipline; MS preferred. Minimum 3.0 GPA.
1 to 3 years of consulting experience, including with projects in oil & gas, power/utility or manufacturing sectors.
Experience assisting clients in obtaining/modifying multi-media permits and/or approvals for new or expanded facilities a plus.
High degree of technical competence and knowledge of Louisiana-focused regulations and policies.
Effective written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills; experience writing and compiling technical data and reports.
Proficient with Microsoft Excel functions and capabilities
Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, travel, and work independently with minimal supervision.
Demonstrated attributes to become a strong consultant – team player, eagerness to learn and grow, self-starter who takes initiative, versatile, and service-oriented mentality.
Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
Local candidates preferred.
