BW Integrated Systems’ (BWIS) Loveland, Colorado facility has an immediate opening for a highly motivated individual who possesses a strong mechanical engineering aptitude. This role will be considered a hybrid engineering role where time will be spent a cross-functional capacity within both the Applications and Mechanical Engineering teams.
The Applications Engineering team has a core focus to provide solutions that creatively address customer needs within both technical and budgetary constraints. In cooperation with our Sales Team this candidate will work with a worldwide target audience with an expectation of applying and developing differentiated solutions to packaging challenges. We are looking for an individual who desires to learn and implement new technology in a manner that is responsible for achieving the core growth objectives of our team and business.
In the Mechanical Engineering portion of this role, the candidate will be responsible for creating detailed mechanical designs and solutions. The candidate should be able to perform stress calculations, calculate motor horsepower requirements and belt speeds, and perform robot reach studies. The candidate will be skilled in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and have a working knowledge of Design for Manufacturability and Design for Assembly methodology.

Essential Functions and Position Responsibilities:
Identify and analyze customer needs and complete equipment utilization worksheets
Review customer bid specifications to ensure expectations will be met by our offering and verify compliance or exceptions to BWIS manufacturing standards
Create equipment & line layouts
Develop complete proposal packages as a deliverable to customer
Create applications package to handoff sold projects to operations
Maintain standards library for equipment layouts
Work with OEM partners including communicating customer objectives and obtaining accurate proposals to be incorporated into our offer
Set and achieve release schedule to assure sequences are completed on time
Performs required design to fulfill project requirements
Attends review meetings of assigned projects
Specifies materials and tolerances based on fabrication capabilities
Creates Layouts, Assemblies, Detail Drawings and BOM’s for engineering designs
Encourage interaction of ideas from machine operators/assemblers.
In conjunction with Global Supply Chain specifies new components required.
Participates in Production Floor activity
Participates in Factory Acceptance Testing, Risk Assessments, etc. as needed
Interaction as necessary with all departments
Works with documentation preparation team to ensure engineering package is complete in a timely manner
Travel is required (15%)

Knowledge, Skills, & Ability:
Proficient in AutoCAD and SolidWorks
Knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical design concepts
Experience in performing Finite Element Analysis and Failure Modes Analysis.
Experience and strong capability with Microsoft Office (including Word and Excel)
Ability to multi-task based on various project timelines
Proven ability to proactively communicate with individuals and groups internal and external to the organization (meetings with customer, sales, engineering, manufacturing, field service, internal leadership)
Ability to work independently
Education or Formal Training:
BS in Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent
5-10 years’ experience designing machinery
