What you’ll be doing...
Lead and manage a highly motivated and successful System Performance Engineering team in the Tristate submarket. Staff, train, and develop the team as necessary. Oversee the successful integration of new 4G and 5G assets into the existing network including, but not limited to, macro cells, small cells, and in-building systems and existing site modifications in support of regional goals and customer satisfaction. Proactively conduct long term planning to ensure long lead performance solutions are tracked and included in network upgrades/redesigns, and ensuring network performance maintains consistency with changing requirements and needs of the business.
Ensure the Tristate submarket network maintains its network performance superiority and reliability, leading the team to ensure prompt trouble identification and resolution.
Develop and implement processes to manage the overall diagnostics and trouble resolution/escalation for the VZW regional network related services. These networks include LTE, CDMA and EVDO.
Ensure the timely activation of new or redesigned RAN assets to meet regional goals and improve customer experience.
Work with other internal departments to set policies and procedures to enhance trouble resolution time.
Interface with regional network teams, Territory teams, HQ teams, and equipment vendors for the purpose of operations support and root cause analysis.
Monitor and analyze KPI data to ensure service levels are met and maintained.
Initiate and manage new processes to improve RAN performance & quality.
Identify and implement changes to improve service quality including antenna modifications, system parameter adjustments, and software changes.
Work closely with other disciplines within the region utilizing strong communication skills to articulate priorities relating to the LTE network’s performance.
Optimize the network to improve VoLTE performance.
Partner with RF Engineering to help drive an overall RF network design to achieve performance objectives.
Continue to provide the best network in the industry as measured by Root Metrics and other third party testers.
What we’re looking for...
You'll need to have:
Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
Six or more years of relevant work experience.
Knowledge of LTE technology and in one or more of the following platforms: CDMA, EVDO, VoLTE, or HSPA+/GSM technology.
Valid driver’s license.
Even better if you have:
A degree in Electrical Engineering.
The ability to manage a team of diverse engineers of varying backgrounds who are often working remotely in other offices or in the field.
Demonstrated leadership capabilities including, but not limited to, the following: understanding changes in the marketplace and the impact on our business, strategic goal and priority setting for the team, ability to build and maintain strong team.
Written and oral communication skills.
Knowledge of voice and data wireless infrastructure (Nokia preferred).
Demonstrated radio access network optimization techniques for voice and data for Nokia infrastructure.
Knowledge of Windows, iOS; ATOLL (RF modeling); Google Earth, MapInfo, IrisView, ActixOne, Windcatcher, and MS Office.
Knowledge of test equipment including: DataPro, pilot scanners, spectrum analyzers and sweep/PIM equipment.
Knowledge of digital communications including: Ethernet backhaul, Fiber, FTTC, and microwave.
Knowledge of RF engineering concepts and principles, including antenna and RF theory; propagation modeling.
Ability and willingness to work flexible hours to support night or weekend work as needed.
Willingness to travel.
