Associated Mechanical is a growing union design-build HVAC, plumbing, refrigeration, and service contractor located in Shakopee, MN. Our projects include multifamily housing, healthcare, commercial offices, restaurants, schools and some light manufacturing and warehouse work.
At this time we are looking to add a mechanical engineer to our growing engineering team. The team is focused on producing mechanical and plumbing drawings as well as prefabrication drawings, 3D coordinated modeling, and sleeve layouts among various other project related tasks. The engineering department supports both the project managers and field foreman as well as assisting with bids and information for the service department.
The mechanical engineer role will develop over time to include leadership opportunities as the team grows. Salary and responsibilities will vary by candidate experience.
Minimum qualifications:
- 2 year degree in mechanical design or related technical field such as drafting or industrial design
- 2 years of experience drafting in Revit or AutoCAD or similar drafting program
- 2 years of experience working in the MEP engineering field
- Knowledge and Design of HVAC systems preferred
- Knowledge and Design of plumbing systems encouraged
- Ability to learn and thrive in a fast paced environment
- Ability to communicate clearly in both written and verbal form both internally and externally
- Proficiency with computers and various software, plotters and printers
- Ability to attend MEP coordination meetings (typically online)
- Organized and willing to follow directions
- Ability to work unsupervised after initial training period and to seek help as needed
Preferred qualifications:
- 4 year degree in mechanical engineering or related field
- 4+ years of mechanical design experience including plumbing and HVAC
- Ability to perform HVAC heat loads
- Ability to perform plumbing calculations
- Ability to produce 3D coordinated drawings in Revit
- Ability to teach and mentor younger designers
- Ability to lead and advocate for mechanical and plumbing design needs in MEP coordination meetings with owners, construction companies and architectural firms
- Experience working with the design-build workflow
Pay is based on experience and qualifications
