TranSystems is seeking a Bridge Engineer in our Omaha, NE office. This individual will support the TranSystems Freight Sector as well as our Government Sector by providing design and engineering for various types of bridge structures and programs. The individual will need to be familiar with engineering requirements such as AASHTO, LRFD, and AREMA.
General Duties & Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Ability to coordinate with clients and client project managers to support the client’s consulting needs
Have a solid understanding of the railroad’s or the DOT’s consulting expectations and needs
Be able to communicate with and manage support staff to successfully achieve project needs and requirements with multiple disciplines, specifically with roads, rail, H&H, environmental, and utilities.
Knowledge of bridge maintenance practices and total cost of ownership factors
Make decisions independently on engineering problems and methods. Represent the organization in meetings to resolve important questions, and plan and coordinate work.
Responsible for accuracy of engineering design and plans, quality presentation, thoroughness and follow-through, and efficient conformance to budgets, schedules, and company standards.
Willingness to collaborate and brainstorm with co-workers. Able to search out answers to questions or solutions to issues that may arise on projects. Have the ability to provide advice to both the clients and staff.
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
Maintain a high commitment to safety and must be able to obtain the eRailsafe certification.Participate in periodic mandatory drug testing
Supervisory Responsibilities – It is not planned to have staff report to this current position, however this position will need to be able to give direction, advice, and deadlines to the staff supporting them on projects they are involved with. It is also anticipated that this position will have interaction directly with the clients.
Qualifications – To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience – A Civil or Structural Engineering Bachelor’s degree with 5-10 years of experience is required, with a PE . Master’s degree in structural engineering preferred but not required.
Computer Skills – MicroStation, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, and various structural engineering software systems depending on engineering discipline including but not limited to AASHTOWare BrR, and Bentley design products, LPile, STAAD, RISA
Certificates and Licenses – Licensed Professional Engineer required. Licensed Structural Engineer with bridge emphasis preferred but not required. Registered as a licensed Professional Engineer in Nebraska preferred but not required.
Other duties may include bridge inspection. If applicant has experience with railroad and or DOT bridge inspections please indicate.
