The Operations Associate I (Jr. Engineer) position is an entry level developmental Position. The primary objective is to develop the Operations Associate I (Jr. Engineer) into a leadership position in Plant operations, Engineering or Maintenance. During the first 1-2 years the Operations Associate I (Jr. Engineer) will rotate job responsibilities in the following departments: Boiler Reliability, Plant Operations, Plant Maintenance and Engineering. During the training rotations the candidate would be expected to obtain a 1st fireman or 3rd MA stationary engineer’s license.
This Position will report to the department manager in area assigned with oversite from the Facility Manager.
Safety (2 months)
Complete yearly safety and environmental training as provided and required by Covanta SEMASS.
Participate in and eventually lead monthly Step-up Meetings. Including all Avatar training and discussions.
Hazards recognition training, conduct monthly safety walk downs in different facility areas or different facilities with any one of the following persons: Regional Safety Coordinator, Plant safety coordinator, Facility Manager, Chief Engineer Supervisor.

Boiler Reliability: (3-6 months)
Complete major Outage inspections with boiler Reliability Group
Complete R Stamp Training course
Assist in writing boiler tube replacement specifications
Maintenance (3-6 months)
Work with mechanical or IC&E depending on candidates aptitude
Develop understanding and capabilities of ALM system
Engineering (2-4 months)
Work with plant engineer developing analytical skills utilizing Citec system
Project development and implementation
Technical Standards program

Upon completion of the training period the Operations Associate I (Jr. Engineer) will be assigned a permanent position within the facility.
Candidate must have obtained a BS degree in engineering.
A successful candidate will have good presentation, organization and people skills. Reading and interpretation of technical documents and manuals, mechanical and electrical drawings, AutoCAD a plus. Solid PC skills and experienced with Excel and Word.
Rotating Shiftwork will be required.
Successful candidate must be a high motivated self starter with the ability and tenacity to solve problems.
