Senior Process Control Engineer
Senior Process Control Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, installing, managing and/or maintaining equipment, in our Dairy Foods manufacturing plant, which is used to monitor and control machinery and processing systems. Responsibilities also include design and maintenance of the Industrial Network and Condition Monitoring Systems and Program.
This position will ensure that these systems and processes operate effectively, efficiently, safely and reliably. This role requires a thorough understanding of the operational processes of the organization and works closely with colleagues across several functions, including operations, maintenance, purchasing, design and Corporate Engineering. Role will be responsible for development and maintenance of PLC, HMI, and reporting standards for the Industrial systems.
Experience / Education (Required:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical or Computer Science or related) and 3+ years of experience in an Industrial Manufacturing setting or High School Diploma and 10+ years of related technical experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility or Bachelor’s degree plus 10+ years of related military operations and leadership experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
Seeking 3+ years of supervising or leading people in a Food/Dairy/Chemical Manufacturing Processing operation.
Ladder logic programming experience utilizing RSLogix highly preferred.
Administrative experience with Windows systems, Linux systems, and Cisco systems. Familiarity with SQL development and use.
Solid project management, manufacturing processes, utilities, facilities construction.
Must have good written and verbal skills; communicate with various levels of employees and vendors.
Competencies / Skills (Required):
Developing new control system design in addition to maintaining and modifying existing systems.
Windows, Linux systems management and Cisco network management.
Working collaboratively with maintenance, operations, purchasing and other internal staff to focus on process equipment efficiencies, changes to existing process parameters/equipment, increase of automation/controls and troubleshooting controls/programming.
Must have the desire to work in a fast-paced production and manufacturing environment.
Ability to develop reporting solutions to help drive process efficiencies.
Process Control knowledge, electrical knowledge, strong Mechanical Aptitude, familiar with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's).
Principles and practices of food manufacturing, including food safety, quality, manufacturing concepts.
CMMS / PM / Equipment and systems reliability program development and management
Project management planning and oversight experience
Knowledge of relevant FDA, OSHA and EPA regulations.
Assist process designs, equipment specifications and capital estimates for process upgrades, modifications to existing systems and installation / commissioning of new assets.
Provide methods, equipment recommendations and standard operating practices to optimize processes and meet product specifications.
Facilitate training as necessary.
Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs; ability to lead others through change
Solid skills in organization, prioritizing and attention to detail.
Ability to select, coach, develop, engage and retain a team of employees and provide periodic feedback to ensure development.
Computer Skills including Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CAD, Project, and Visio
Ability to manage a department operating budget.
Strong presentation and interpersonal skills with customers (internal and external) and vendors
Working knowledge of FDA and OSHA regulations, GMPs, Sanitation, and HACCP

Experience – Education - Competencies – Skills (Preferred):
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Food Processing
Knowledge of Ammonia refrigeration systems, process hazard analysis, process safety management.
Labor Relations and union experience highly desired.
Knowledge and expertise with high speed and high-volume dairy or foods manufacturing processes.
Collaborate with engineers, suppliers, contractors, and plant partners to ensure customer needs are met.
Encourage close team work between all functions (Engineering, Productions, Quality Management, etc.).
Continuous Improvement (CI) Processes/Lean Maintenance and TPM experience preferred
Understanding of regulatory requirements for food safety.
Exposure with refrigeration, utilities and waste water treatment equipment and processes.
Experience with Cause Mapping Analysis and Reliability Centered Maintenance Analysis
Understanding of Vibration, Infrared, MLT, Ultrasonic, and Motor Circuit evaluation
Experience and career history with "Fortune 500" type companies strongly desired
Food/Dairy/Chemical Manufacturing Processing experience requiring the use of a PSM regulated ammonia refrigeration system with technical knowledge of refrigeration and maintenance systems, equipment installation/startups and plant utility equipment.
