About the Job
This is a temporary replacement ~ Approximately 15 months
Under the supervision of the Process Engineering Manager, the titular provides process engineering design, implementation/commissioning services and maintenance support of manufacturing processes and equipment. Engineering services may include equipment specification, process design, and process development/improvement. Analyzes process requirements and evaluates equipment and systems to ensure deliverables meet or exceed process specifications and manufacturing requirements. The process engineer evaluates and recommends new process development technologies that optimize performance, are cost effective, and will improve product quality and manufacturing techniques. The titular successfully leads and executes projects or areas of large projects while providing significant contributions on project teams and leading multi-functional teams.
Analyzes trends and reports on data generated to characterize scale-up, performance and functionality of processes.
Improve product & process quality, consistency, productivity, efficiency, and risk levels.
Apply & implement continuous improvements concepts & standards.
Reviewing existing data to see if more research and information needs to be collated, and assessing the adequacy of the existing processes and equipment.
Designing, installing and commissioning new production units, monitoring development (i.e., modifications and upgrades) and troubleshooting existing processes.
Applying the principles of mass, momentum and heat transfer to process and equipment design.
Conducting process development experiments to scale in a laboratory.
Using computer modeling and simulations to design and evaluate processes and operating systems for the manufacturing of products.
Supporting the conversion of small-scale processes into commercially viable large-scale operations.
Monitoring and improving the efficiency, output and safety of a plant.
Ensuring the process works at the optimum level, to the proper rate and quality of output, in order to meet supply needs.
Making observations and taking measurements directly, as well as collecting and interpreting data from the other technical and operating staff involved.
Assuming responsibility for environmental monitoring and ongoing performance of processes and process plants.
Ensuring that all aspects of an operation or process meet specified regulations.
Liaising with other process engineers working on associated plants.
Working closely on product specifications and production schedules with other specialists, including: personnel responsible for the quality control of raw materials, intermediate and finished products; R&D, customers, engineers responsible for plant maintenance; commercial colleagues and the operating crew.
Managing the cost and time constraints of projects.
Bachelors of Engineering degree
1 to 2 years of experience in manufacturing industry or in similar functions/positions
High level knowledge of Microsoft Office software and Windows Operating System
Strong communication skills – ‘drive & leadership’
Ability to work under high pressure & constant changing environment
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines
Details and results oriented
Effective analytical and problem-solving skills
Continuous Improvement knowledge – medium level
Bilingual French & English an asset
