Working from a home office in the Southern Michigan or Northern Indiana area, is responsible for supporting national sales to Suzuki Marine Boat Builders in MI, IN, OH and the North East. Uses Technical skills to help train and improve installation of Suzuki motors at boatbuilders assembly plants. Communicates to management the current market conditions and reports ideas to improve sales relations and/or improve the quality of the installations. Works with District Sales Managers to increase the number of dealers, as well as, improve the volume of sales. As required, assists management in the design of programs and in the creation of National Boat Builder Meetings.
Communicates sales programs, market conditions and competitive advantages to each Boat Builder to obtain increased sales. Conduct sales and product training with boat builder employees to increase their knowledge of Suzuki marine product line.
Assist the boat builder in making accurate forecasts of product needs along with assisting him/her in product training of his/her sales force. Work with each builder to supply all needed sales information on a timely basis.
Assist with the control of inventory and analyze sales information to release the product in a timely manner to effect maximum sales and inventory turn.
Assist the boat builder in training production employees with rigging Suzuki controls and motors to keep the level of quality at the highest. Ensure that all boat builders are following proper procedures to keep CSI levels high.
Maintain control of rigging parts at each boat builder and advise builder of inventory needs, as well as, assisting with the placement of orders.
Assist management with creation of new installation techniques, parts or new trends with installation. Initiate new ideas that will always improve the overall effort and make Suzuki the motor of choice.
Administer all policies as outlined in the Suzuki Marine Boat Builder Policies.
Assist the credit Department in the collection of any outstanding accounts and report any activity that may result in a financial loss.
Assist the boat builder with the timely submission of claims.
Report all competitive programs and activities to management, as well as, any special reports that may help create improved programs and plans. Assist with feedback to analyze each program and improve success.
Create and maintain hands-on training support materials such as “How-To” and “Where-To-Find” Suzuki Outboard assembly procedures and all specifications.
As directed, maintain a consistent contact system with Prospective Boat Builders to convince them to participate in the PREP+ program.
Work with each builder to improve the amount of Suzuki accessories stocked and sold. Along with encouraging those to increase their dealers’ support of Suzuki products.
Counsel all Boat Builders on the advantages of Suzuki Connect and assist with obtaining maximum participation. Assist management to create stronger boat builder reporting through computer systems.
Motivate the boat builders to participate in Suzuki sponsored promotional programs and utilize the co-op advertising programs to maximize the exposure of the Suzuki product line to the nation.
Maintain a consistent contact system with all boat builders, prospects, and Suzuki office personnel with the use of in person contacts, phone contacts and computer.
Upon request, complete and submit the following monthly reports: Monthly Boat Builder and Market Report
As directed, mentor freshman application engineers in daily operations with builders and Suzuki Marine.
Assist in the creation of Suzuki Performance Data Sheets for uploading on the Suzuki website.
Minimum Requirements
5 years of experience as a Marine Field Sales or Service person.
District Manager and/or equivalent management experience with a manufacture or boat builder.
Must have good interpersonal skills and a working knowledge of boat development, production and testing.
Must be knowledgeable with outboard motor repair and installation.
Must have the ability to present training material with the ability to create training curriculum.
Must be willing to travel by auto or airlines away from home a minimum of 70%.
Must have a valid driver license and good driving record.
Must have a High School diploma.
Must demonstrate excellent skills in organization, research and analysis. Must have strong presentation skills.
