As an Assoc Project Engineer - iPlay you will be supporting the engineering development of toy products for our innovative product development team iPlay. Developing solid communication, problem solving, mechanical engineering, 3D CAD, as well as prototype modeling skills, you will function as the engineering lead from initial concept through early delivery. You will collaborate with diverse multi-functional teams at our Rhode Island offices and support success of our product development partners globally. You will be responsible for defining and implementing innovative solutions that will deliver on product objectives (cost, technical and schedule). As part of the development team, you will be actively involved in defining the initial product, exploring new materials and new processes, and developing and defining product and functional specifications.
A day in the life of an Assoc. Project Engineer - iPlay:
Independently manage the overall project and technical development efforts of a few products ensuring performance, quality, cost and schedule success.
Innovate to find the way around cost, schedule, or product performance problems no one in Hasbro has solved before!
Partner with internal and external multi-functional teams, especially overseas development counterparts and manufacturing vendors, on product development topics as needed.
Working closely with Cost Engineering, you will estimate product costs, evaluate vendor quotes, recommend options for cost reductions and drive team to cost decisions.
Anticipate, analyze, resolve and where necessary highlight project issues throughout all stages of the product development cycle
What you’ll bring:
B.S. Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics (or equivalent), Master’s Degree a plus
0-5 years experience working in the toy and/or consumer goods industry preferred, particularly experience in preschool or juvenile products.
Creative engineering thought process to find the best solutions from sources inside and outside Hasbro.
Knowledge of manufacturing techniques and cost analysis
Experience developing products to be manufactured in high volume offshore manufacturing environments is preferred
Ability to interpret quality, safety and reliability standards and guide the team accordingly
Ability to assess, communicate and support mitigation of technical risks
Strong communication skills are essential to clearly communicate product designs to technical and non-technical team members, many with English as a second language
