Maintain a caseload of job seekers being supported in various stages of Supported and Customized Employment.
Facilitate the Discovery process, in partnership with job seekers and their support teams, to identify a person’s ideal conditions of employment, by utilizing current best practices in employment support services.
Utilize person-centered approaches, strategies and tools to help get to know people and their families in order to discover what they find most important.
Create opportunities at local businesses for job seekers to participate in time-limited activities related to their skills and potential vocational themes, as part of the Discovery process.
Separate from the Discovery process, develop and negotiate employment opportunities for people with disabilities that meet each person’s specifically identified ideal conditions of employment.
Facilitate informational interviews with area employers and businesses to learn more about each setting, work requirements and employers/businesses who do similar work.
Support people whose completed Discovery profile includes a recommendation to pursue self-employment to develop a business and marketing plan that includes potential sources of business financing and other assistance in developing, launching and operating a business.
Negotiate jobs based on an employment proposal that utilizes a job seeker’s skills and interests, while considering the supports needed and the unique culture of the workplace/setting.
Develop a job support plan, prior to a person’s start date which outlines facilitation of natural workplace supports, including detailed job tasks and fading/contingency plans.
Provide Ongoing and Follow Along job supports as needed.
Provide mentoring to Job Coaches related to Discovery and Job Development activities.
Provide travel training to job seekers or employed people.
Use all resources available to network and build relationships with businesses, including social media, targeted outreach, individualized informational interviews and participation in events at community organizations such as local chamber of commerce and civic organizations.
Maintain appropriate documentation for ongoing programmatic and individual outcome data, benchmarks and milestones related to employment outcomes and ongoing monitoring; including case notes, incident reports, attendance/billing and other documentation as required by the program.
Provide accurate documentation of attendance and support provided, per most recent requirements of Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) and/or Division of Rehabilitation Services (DORS).
This position is currently primarily a telework position. The position includes future flexibility with a combination of telework, and community-based, in-person supports to meet the needs of the program and department
